DOES anyone know what could be the problem?

Both master and slave cylinders were replaced by AAMCO Transmission recently and since then, the friction point is way down near the ground.

From internet research it looks like it may be...

1. the hydraulics need to be bled

2. the clutch is going bad - it does seem like it takes a little longer to snap into gear...

ANY HELP PLS!!! I dont want to take it in to the nissan dealer!!!

I'd definitely try bleeding the system.

There is likely two points that need to be bleed in the system, the slave cylinder and this little box that kind of dampens the whole system. Those boxes are notorious for causing clutch issues in the RWD cars. I didn't even know the Maxima's even had them until I pulled the engine/transmission out of my car and saw it. Follow the line from the master cylinder to the slave and it should wrap around and go into a little box, that should have a bleeder on it.

hey mtcookson, thanks for the help... Now my car DOES have that as I saw it when I was bleeding the system. I bled it and Im sure there is no AIR in the master OR the slave! But I did see that other box u mentioned, but didnt bleed that yet. Would it matter, my car not being a RWD?

Wouldn't matter, its a sort of dampening unit that makes the clutch a littler "softer" to press from what I understand. Air can definitely get trapped in there and needs to be bled. I think now that's the reason my clutch system never worked that great... I never even knew about it.

Nah, I'd find it more likely to be air in the lines. If the clutch were burnt up I would think it wouldn't be engaging until the last part of the pedal travel due to wear (disc gets thinner, clutch pedal has less travel needed to disengage therefore only needing the first little bit of pedal travel to engage).

If air were in the lines you would press the pedal, building very little pressure till finally at the last portion of the pedal stroke there's enough pressure against the pressure plate to disengage the clutch.
