Ouch...that sucks big time. Should've put some snow tires on for the winter. But since you're getting it fixed, is your mom gonna let you keep it?

Looks like a fine opportunity for a front-end conversion.

BTW your pictures dates are 3 years off.

That's really odd....you have a 240 that looks just like mine and you only live like 20 minutes away. Did you crash it around Wilkes? I've been hearing there's still a lot of snow up there but I figured the rain washed most of it away. Poor thing, hope the fixing goes well.

No, its definetly getting fixed.. i found alot of cheap parts so its only gonna be like 700 before paint so not too terrible. It happened in the Dallas / Back mountain ara, not anywhere near wilkes...more towards penn state wilkes barre. (btw id like to meet up with you ive actually never seen a vert in our area other than mine)But heres the story.... going up a rather large hill and i knew the roads were a little slushy so i made sure i had enough speed to make it up without any problems (20 mph). At the crest of the hill out of nowhere there was like a line and after that line it was mostly snow/ice....tapped the brakes because it was all downhill after that and there was a pretty bad curve coming up and i knew there was usually accidents there. Must have hit the brakes a little too hard and started to fishtail a little....i didn't panic and did my best to keep it straight until a chevy S-10 came FLYING around the corner. i laid on my horn because i knew i wasn't gonna be able to keep it in my lane and yea head on collision at an est. 20 mph. No one was hurt but my 240 so yea thats the story and again it will be getting fixed I'm keeping the car for myself so I'm not worried about what its worth for other people... the suspension and engine were not even touched so i just have alot of body work to do by summer though, she will be freshly painted and ready to go. the end

$700 is kind of a lot, man. I could've possibly found some places about 3 hrs from you that would give you a S13 front end for $200-$250. They might even have red parts.

DeXteR, you're bad luck. Don't ever say you want my vert.

After I saw yours (which was the third "top always down" I've seen), I went and found an S2000 forum where they have the whole series posted.

700 is not alot for straightening out the frame and everything too....where im from 240 parts are nearly impossible to find local in decent condition. let alone body color :-\ it was $700 or $3000 from a body shop

Oh, I didn't see that your fender mount was bent, too. Yeah, decent price then. Sorry!

Anyway, if you ever need cheap S13 parts and feel like going on a day trip, I'll give you the addresses of 4 junkyards to check out.

Morgan Highway is pretty close to you. It's the one I've gone to mostly. They have about 5 or 6 240's but they're pretty stripped. Here's the addy anyway:400 Morgan HighwayScranton, PA 18508

it's under a cover at my in-law's.

it's bad: HUD windshield is obviously obliterated, windshield frame/hoop is mangled and bent in 3 directions, top is twisted, all the windows are off track, trunk won't open, and the key won't come out of the ignition. i'll probably tear into it this summer once i get a pole barn. i'll be sure to update pictures and let all my fellow vertians know what's going on. my wife wants to repair it; i want to get a new one from the south that doesn't have rust. don't worry everyone, you won't be left in the dark.

it's just i've got this DSM...

Dex, there is no way I'd resurrect that vert. Even if you got the car straight again, you never know how structurally compromised it actually is. Easier to just start over.

i agree. between repairs from the accident, and restoring it from rust, i think it's too much work. maybe some other super-dedicated, vert enthusaist or body specialist would rather do this. i'm not going to do it nor am i going to pay for it.

Quote » Even if you got the car straight again, you never know how structurally compromised it actually is.
i disagree. the car is still straight, sort of. dig up the old thread if you'd like and you can see the pictures. the only thing close to real structure that was compromised was the windshield frame. seriously, though, there's not enough there to protect you in a roll-over - which would probably kill me anyway.

Quote »Easier to just start over.
i agree. i need a nice, clean southern vert with a blown motor and transmission.

i just need to convince the wife that it's a lost cause. she loved the car more than i did. she wants to at least dig into it and see how bad it really is. she won't be convinced until she's had a look over it. at that point, we'll get another one and part out the wrecked one. again, i'll keep everyone posted.

she's awesome.

On the plus side, that's a heck of a lot of vert specific parts to sell.
