Pretty cool swap! Must not have been able to handle much boost on the stock pistons though...

16psi is what he was running aparently.i spoke to a guy who has the same setup and he said that even if the tunning and everything else is spot on a vh can only handle 12psi max.pretty sad when you think of it.the person that i spoke to (jake) has a performance shop in auckland and he soarer runs 1bar and has 35k kms on it now.

Fairly sure that's this car:

Yeh they pretty much are lightweight NA pistons, would really be worth building a VH with proper decompression boost pistons if you're going to build a setup that extreme.

yes, thats the car.theres a falcon here in auckland that has a similar setup.i cant say who built it cause he asked not to,but its very fast and sounds like no other v8 that ive heard.hes built sr20's n/a at 1bar that lasts longer than a vh.

10-12lbs isnt bad for stock pistons IMO, thats still a lot of power and really high compression.

Detonation is what kills pistons, not boost by itself. We don't know the tune he was running nor the conditions in which the engine was damaged.

Also, if you look at the description in the ad, it says there is a nitrous kit. Perhaps it played a part in the destruction.

The half-lap wonder car. It was famous for having never actually completed a lap without destroying an engine a couple of years ago, things may have changed. From what i could make out that was due to unrealistic expectations of what an engine could handle and the attitude that NOS + Boost makes for a better drifter, so plenty of both must be good!

Car: lots of unique hot rods, and customs, with modern engines, and a good truck to pull the trailer.
