Ok so I just finished my swap and finally got it running but the idle settles at about 1500 rpm when I know it should be like 900 rpm. I checked the vacum lines and the throttle cable and I can't seem to find any issues there. One problem is I havn't received my exhaust yet so I'm running open downpipe but I never leave the car running for more than a few seconds. Will the lack of a full exhaust cause it to idle that high? I have it set to factory timing but the FSM says something about timing it at 15 degrees. I can honestly say I've never used a timing light but I guess I might have to learn to get this thing idling right. Is there anything else that may be causing me problems? Thnx-Rob-

before you go screwing w your timing. Try thisTurn off car.Disconnect TPS.IACV Valve.Close it all the way.Back it out 3 turnsTurn car onSee where it is idling. If its still fast, turn the IACV screw in half a turn and wait 30 secs, repeat if it is still fast. If it is too slow on idle then back out half a turn.Once you get it where you want it, turn car off.Reconnect your TPS Turn car back onit should stay at idleIf it does notTurn off car and disconnect your throttle cable, turn car back on and see if it idles better. Could be your cable is not well adjusted.

if you dont have any misifiring/ hesitation or bogging while accelerating then its not your timing..it would just be the IACV set wrong..do what chicos said and let us know what happens

Just to be sure: the IAC on these cars is that square box thats buried in the intake manny correct? I think it has a big plastic screw or something on it.

if I recall correctly, every like half turn will be like 200-500 rpm or something like that, so be moderate when turning the idle screw

To set timing on Nissans, you need to lock the car into timing mode.

To properly set idle on Nissans, you need to do the same thing.

I'd say your car, with lack of exhaust, as well as not running long enough, is the cause. It simply may still be in cold start/warm up idle....
