I just put rings and bearings in my ka24de and it lacks power now. It ran good before i rebuilt it it just leaked oil out of the seals and oil pan. It revs sluggish and has no power. compression is even about 140, good on the leak down. I checked the upper timing chain but its correct. My question is can the bottom chain be off one tooth and cause this? I spent 3 day doing the pinouts on sensors and i am at wits end. Any ideas?

Set your engine at TDC and check all of your timing marks. If the lower chain is off you will be about 8 degrees off.

if your off a tooth it usually wont even idle, 140 is low compression, I'd look into that, esp with new rings. My bet is your dizzy is off, get a timing light. Also check to make sure all grounds are tight and everything is plugged in, might now even be a timing problem.

When installing my makeshift bench fell and the caps and shims got mixed up. Could this be my prob? Would the factory exhaust and intake be diff?

I took the front covers off and everything is on the marks on the timing. I have tried every tooth on the distributor. When my engine is at top dead center on the crank the intake cam is on an angle a lil above the surface where the valve cover mounts(about 11oclock. and the exhaust lobe is pointed below the mounting surface of the valve cover (about 3oclock). From what i read people are saying the intake should be at 10 oclock and the exhaust should be at 2 oclock. It revs slow until about 2500. If i hold it at 2500 and rev it it revs easy. When driving it revs but like it is bound up? Any ideas appreciated And i have no check engine light on. Is there a sensor that could be bad?
