Fresh detail on the pathfinder today

I painted the calipers about 2-3 weeks ago using duplicolor red caliper spray, and before applying the first coat used duplicolor caliper cleaner.

I then wire brushed them a little, and applyed 5-6 coats of the paint. I like how they came out.

Yesterday installed my new headunit, Clarion vx400, didn't want to spend to much money on a headunit, but i got it for 300$ plus a wiring harness adapter, in the future probably beginning of 2011 i will buy the navi adapter for it which is like 70-80$, cheap price to pay in all for a clarion with navigation, will come out to like 380ish.

On to the pics:

Thanks asnorton, and esoteric, i used this wiring harness http://www.amazon.com/Metra-Amplifier-I ... 944&sr=1-2

and yes for now im still using stock bose speakers and tweeters, along with the subs i have, in the future i'll be replacing all the door speakers, the 2 front tweeters, and also adding 2 rear tweeters. Along with another amp, and then strip and rip out all the bose wiring BS, along with amp.

awesome! How does that sound with the bose?

Realize, im not looking to be heard across the street.. just clean sounds in the cabin. I wanted to try that harness over the scosche intergration with the adjustable pots.. do the RCAs hook right into the bose amps?

Ill be doing the tweeter mod to see if i like the sound.. figured 2.50 for a mod that might change my mind about ripping everything out is a good idea.

You dont plug the RCA's into the bose amps, you get the harness, plug in the existing on that was plugged into the stock headunit, now you have 4 rcas and a couple other wires,

Read the key on the harness and on your aftermarket radio, plug them in correctly to the rca preamps on the radio, then wirenut the other various wires from the radio to the harness, like 12v power, amp turnon , 12v acc, dimmer/illumination, etc.

Just if your wondering, the 2 front speakers have their own little amps right on the side on them, and the amp behind the left trunk panel is the one that powers the rear speakers.

Nice & Clean, great looking Pathfinder--inside and out! Nice work. I dig the red calipers, maybe I will take the time and paint mine in the spring. I too am interested in how the Bose speakers sound etc. Are they as loud? Any hissing or any negativity at all??

I think it does make it a little bit clearer than it was before, and on my unit at least, i have specific sub preamp outputs and stuff instead of having it spliced into the rear amp like before and it wouldnt be bass notes but a little bit of other notes mixed in,

Also before cause of my bass and hard suspension, plus it being cold and stuff, i cant play a cd without it skipping every 2 seconds, and also before i used a tape to 3.5mm converter to play from an mp3player, which then the cassette player went and yeah this is where i ended up.

I also dont expect much from our bose speakers, for one, mine are going to be 9 years old in like 3 months and also every year speakers are getting better because of some new technology and stuff, plus our speakers have paper cones too which are sht. For example i have a 2006 Hyundai sonata LX Limited, with the premium system and i found out these past 2 weeks its actually infinity speakers, but i mean these speakers blow the pathfinders out of the water, then again they are 4 years newer and more advanced than they had in 02, actually 01 cause thats when the car was put together so yeah.

which is better to paint calipers, Dupli-color or G2 High performance paint. Dupli-color says it can only resist heat temperature up to 500 degree while G2 says 980 degress. Which has a better high gloss finish and lasts longer?

I would say just stick with the normal duplicolor high temp caliper paint which i think its the 500f one, it works fine and has a glossy shine to it, almost like a clearcoat. Also make sure to grab some duplicolor caliper cleaner , before you spray it with that, wire brush the calipers first, spray with the cleaner, then apply 5-6 coats each coat about 10 min after the other, do it light to moderate and dont apply heavy ones or you will have runs and drips
