fresh air

I have an 07 M35 and can't figure out how to get fresh air in through the vents without turning on the climate control system.

Everytime I press the "mode" button, it turns on the fan.

What am I missing?

You dont, you just turn it on ECON mode, I believe

No, you just push the button that has the symbol for fresh air or circulated air. If you push the fresh air symbol you won't feel that much air coming in (unless your on the freeway), but it is definitely open.
