hey guys, I searched but couldn't find an answer. Does a 1991 240 use the old, supposedly ozone depleting freon(I think technical name is r12) or the newer and now ALOT cheaper r134a? I skimmed through the factory service manual and didn't see anything specific but I did see a picture of a can of R12 so I'm guessing it uses freon but I'm not sure and I would like to be.

A 1991 will be R12, unless it has been converted. If it has been converted, there will be new fittings (not threaded) and should be a sticker indicating such with the date of conversion.

Look for a sticker that looks like this:

If you have R12, it will say so in the same spot as R134a is written on this one...
