So I recently changed my leaking freeze plugs in the rear of the motor when I was doing my clutch. The other day I noticed a puddle under the car, I took a look underneath and sure enough the freeze plugs on both sides of the motor are leaking, so those need to be changed for sure, however, I'm not sure how I want to go about doing it. The 3 plugs on each side look completely inaccessible without pulling the motor.

Anyone ever changed the freeze plugs with the motor still in the car? Looks impossible to do, but figured I'd ask. Anyways if you have an input or opinions let me know! Thanks

If not, looks like I'll be pulling the motor and transmission part way. Just enough to access the plugs, change them and get it all squared away, what a bummer though, just got the car running great!

Awwwww crap...that blows!
Too bad the rear plugs failing was a warning about the rest, hopefully there aren't any other little gremlins hiding out...

Extreme bummer...

Is this on your TT or NA? If its your TT it def requires an engine pull. :frown:

Yeah it's a bummer :/
It's on my TT, Ill drop the transmission to make the pull a little easier I guess, looks pretty tough with the trans attached. On a bright note Ill take this opportunity to add some split downpipes for some more ponies!

My turbos don't burn oil and they make 10psi quickly, the car was used to commute a lot so I'm pretty sure they don't new replacement, ill check them for shaft play while I'm in there
Nerve wracking but I should be ok with these turbos. Ill check the manual to see what is within spec.

Ill also check out any other potential issues and take this opportunity to replace my heater core!
