Any exiting freeway races ever happen to any of you? Sorry, just really bored...But anyways, I've raced a new Z way back...I had the KA in and it killed me.

I got over racing on the freeway as soon as I realized just how little room there is for error. If you're smart, you will too.

But before I got over it, I had all sorts of fun nearly killing myself. Between passing people on the right (See California driving guide), racing people who tried to run me off the road, and just general insanity, it was kind of fun in an adreneline pumping, I should be dead now kind of way.

The most fun I ever had was a long time ago, driving a Miata home to Orange from Santa Monica (about 75 miles). It was about 5am, and me and this guy in an old school 280Z took turns playing follow the leader. It wasn't really racing, just driving at 100+mph.

yah the 5 freeway is real wide and clear right by disneyland. i like that spot too, the 210 once you get outta irwindale isn't so bad either. my favorite's the 55 heading towards newport beach, dunno why, just like it.

used to race the 210 in ca all the time when i got my first 240, but its too dangerous, ive had a few close calls. Driving through traffic is verry skillfull; I used to love seeing the faces of the drivers i'd pass, but i look back now and think of how stupid i was

Coming home from Santa Monica I took the 10, to the 5, to the 22 to the 55, and got off on Chapman because I used to live in the hills up above Orange.

When I used to race, I always loved the 405 northbound between the 22 and the 710. It's four lanes wide and has enough hills and curves that your only concern is coming up on the CHP. Of course, it's usually packed with cars and the people who drive it are generally ***holes coming from south Orange county and heading into LA in their BMWs, Benz's, and other wack ***, I spent too much money on my car, cars.

I think my favorite freeway lately is the 710, because it takes me most of the way to everywhere I want to be, and traffic isn't too bad (if you don't mind irrate truckers). But yeah, for the most part, all of our freeways suck. Unless it's like 3am. Then we have hundreds of miles worth of wide open, pretty damn well maintained racetrack. :ylsuper

Oh theres nothing wrong with a little freeway race...Street racing though (Like lining up on a road or green light)- I've seen way too many people mess their car up, get busted by the poe, and have heard of a lot of people dying...screw that

oh, so racing at 100+ mph in traffic is less dangerous than racing on a desserted street starting at 0 mph, right...

uh I don't know too many peopel who race in traffic...But I see your point and would like to add that the freeway is a lot wider and safer than a narrow, hilly road with ditches (well where I live)...But anyways, yeah it is dangerous, but what isn't now-a-days...Oh, and I let off at about 100 or so, 5th gear doesn't matter to me - whoo hoo, my overdrive gear can take yours!

My car isnt so quick on the freeways, but i would rather do "spirited" cruising on an open freeway rather than isolated surface streets. No pedestrians, no bikers, no stops, no speed traps, less turns to worry about, better for the car, better gas mileage. Sure the speed is a lot faster, but theres a lot less obstacles too.

As for many cars on the freeways, I do not weave. Cruising like that is reserved for very light traffic.
