Driving down the freeway or highway at 60 to 75 mph any of you guys/gals get excessive transmission noise while in over drive??? or sounds like the car is stuck in 3rd gear while everyone is passing in the other lane???

AMEN to CNS. I drove the automatic and was sorely disappointed (and about to insist on a 6-spd) when I was taken over to the CVT and fell in <3

Except that the OP has an S, which means he's a 4AT... not a CVT.

I think as well isolated as road noise and engine sounds are, it wouldn't suprise me if you can hear gear whine from the transmission. I think in most cars the road and wind noise drowned out those sounds. Ever notice on a race car, the loudest noise... even over a loud exhaust... when you strip out the sound proofing is gear whine.

On my 6 speed, I hear gear whine over most other noises when at smaller throttle position under 65, over that, the engine gets louder.
