I'm actually in school 18 credits per semester, and its a traditional schedule of classes that are all over the place...and that the difficulty of my situation.
If I were applying for a full-time long term position, I could probably find a job easy, but because I'm essentially applying for full-time for 3 months and then part time for 8 months, it makes it difficult to get the employers attention.
I went to school for 3 semester out of high school, dropped out, worked full time for 2 years, and then went back to school full time. I know about working. I also had a job working for a military contractor (EDS) doing computer staging for a summer. I made more money in that summer than I've ever made in 3 months! Up until recently, I was working off the money I made two summer ago. The most difficult part of going to school full time is getting money in your spare time. I've never had any luck finding a job that allowed me to work a flexible schedule that paid over $9 an hour.
I've never considered bar tending or serving, but I think that's my only option at this point.
It's difficult to tell an employer that you cant work 8am-5pm, and you need a solid 2-4 hours a day to study towards the end of the semester, and you may have a constantly changing schedule on top of it.
So while yes, I get awesome financial aid (actually my entire senior year will be paid for with grants and scholarships), I'll also need money to fund my life outside of college.
