What's the coolest thing you ever found in a goodie bag at a car show / event? Window stickers are pretty common, fridge magnets, bumper stickers, pens, etc. However, sometimes you get something really cool. Tokico gave out jump drives that looked like a shock at SEMA one year. One company gave out Hot Wheels cars. What do you think would be something really cool to give out that wouldn't cost a lot of money but people would love it?

I never get cool SWAG because I usually go to shows on their last few days. :/

I heard the Lincoln booth was giving away free Cialis this year.

I've gotten all of the following good items as (non-NICO) swag over the years, with one exception (the one involving Torry)

Handled plastic tote bags: designed to carry other swag. We all know most swag gets tossed away, but if the bag is even remotely decent, it'll get reused a few times, adding exposure to the logo.

disposeable one time use thin plastic rain poncho's with large logo on back

cheap plastic kazoo with logo.

logo button (pins to your garment). I used to get tons of car buttons in my youth at auto shows. Many end up on bulletin boards, increasing exposure.

small window decals

Plastic logo cup. Think official NICO Club Purple drank cup.

Autographed nekkid pictures of Torry.

Modded 240SX exhaust sound replicator (whoopie cushion)

I always loved free drinks in an awesome event cup. Not many events do the whole alcohol thing, however...

Edit: And I wouldn't put it in a bag cause it would spill. Yeah.

I've never gotten anything fancy at a regular old auto show. Go to the Salt Lake auto show every January (this weekend, in fact) and don't get more than brocures. Nissan did give out DVD copies of The Run back when the Z33 launched. Still have mine on my shelf. That's about as exciting as it gets unless we're talking SEMA.

I usually run across raffles. Maybe some Tshirts and wristbands and stuff. I would like to see more cool posters or key chain items (that arent cheap plastic that break in your pocket by walking).

As Ive said in the past, we can do this for NICO! With a pre installed webkey that launches the site! Cheaper than you think (as long as Samsung, LG, Motorolla, and any other company that uses Flash memory ((everbody)) is not launching a MAJOR product within a few weeks of purchase).

As for giveaways, Im always happy with cleaning products. I get Meguiar's stuff all the time.

I wonder...if you put Cialis in the MKS's gas tank, does it sprout two extra cylinders and a driveshaft and shed 1000lb?

Perhaps the gear shift selector gets more stiff...

I remember Kia was one of the first to hand out CD-ROM brochures years ago.

Wind-up cars would be sweet.
I think all I've gotten were shirts and lanyards.

I'm surprised more automakers don't hand out matchbox-size versions of their cars. What better way to stick in peoples' minds?

Might want to check the cost first.

I was just at the Philly Auto Show. The hot swag item this year was cloth tote bags with logo's. Jeep's was especially nice. Audi gave me some pretty nice swag too, like labelled spring water, a baseball cap, and a hot/cool beverage holder.

Promotional items are A LOT cheaper than you think. Most are made overseas. A miniature car might cost less than $5.00 pending the complexity.

I understand. I was a retail buyer many moons ago, and dabbled with swag. But I'm guessing Bex is looking for stuff well under $1 unit cost.

Pretty much. Depending on how many goodie bags we might have to fill. :)

Hey! That was the year we ran ourselves ragged trying to see everything in like 2 days. It was 2010 IIRC and I still use mine here and there.

I used to go to biking expos (called interbike). Trek gave me a Lance Armstrong poster, then I bumped into him at the show and had him sign it. I wonder if it's worth anything now...

I also ran into Mat Hoffman one year after he broke his arm shortly before the Gravity Games (so he couldn't compete). He was actually running his own booth (Hoffman bikes). There was really no one in his booth so I just went over and we chilled for 20 minutes or so. I can't remember what he ended up giving me, but I know some stickers were involved. He was a cool dude.

The best thing I've ever walked away from a car show with was just free food.

Let me know how I can help. Items under $1 that will actually be used and not discarded are tough to come by, but they can be had.

Bex, a couple more ideas for sub $1 swag that's less likely to get tossed.

- beer/soda bottle opener (w/ logo) for your key ring. I have an ancient one on mine and it comes in handy.
- refrigerator magnet - think NICO logo + tag line with a picture of a Nissan (or nekkid pic of Torry).

I save EVERY magnet. I use them to put christmas cards, postcards, and other odds and ends on the fridge.

To go with the bottle opener, get some small NICO stickers for the front and glue a magnet on the back.

A sweet little flash light or a small flash light for your key chain

Just make sure you're not liable if they don't read correctly and people die from tread separation....
