Im stilling looking forward to getting me a 240 but, till i find one my friend is giving me a 1990 hyundai excel hatchback for free. Me being the car freak i am was wondering should i just drive it regular and sell later or, attempt to tune it out for kicks and giggles till i find the 240? Who knows, maybe i can swap a different car engine in it,

Daily driver. Do it, you're gonna need one for when you get the 240 (trust me).

Drive it for now until you can find a 240. And later on you can sell it.

Take it, you can't beat free.

Take it, it'll make a good daily driver. Plus, I do believe you can stick the tib motor in those.

Take it, it's FREE! Drive it as a daily driver till your satisfied with your 240. Then just sell it to get more parts for your 240 or just put it in a derby event (YEAH!! ).

Damn a 4g63 powered Hundai?

Again, Big Jeff says BANGIN!

You shoud put a powered by mitsubishi sticker on your windshield. That way people will think that you're just an idiot.

i was gonna 4g63 a 95 hyundai accent hatchback.

guy only wanted 1000 for it. 85,000 miles, and bad clutch.

then i realized that i didnt want to be seen driving an accent.

older hyundai's are very easy to 4g63.

they bolt in. [mount wise, you still have to wire it]

three of my friends knocked out some cheap projects within the last week.

a 94 dodge colt wagon, manual swap, gutted interior, 16g'd 4g63.

an 84 mazda RX7 with a chevy rear, 12" slicks, 350 motor with alum. heads, pistons, rods, 4L60E, and juice [200]. its so funny to see a little rx with a cut out cowl and chrome scoop.

Definitely take it, free cars rule, especially free cars that run. I'm sure that thing gets unbelievable mileage, so just keep it as a daily driver.

Man. Even a free Hyundai is still a Hyundai. Remember that in the early nineties, the company was still one of the least reliable motor companies on earth. Keep in mind maintenance costs when making this decision. I can tell you from experience that the 1988 Excel (not sure if the 1990 was the same--the 88 was square, ugly) was the most horrifically unreliable cars I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Plus, the car is a moving oil leak. That could have been because the particular car I dealt with was not well maintained prior to its ownership by my aunt (at which point my father and uncle and I took over maintenance since she can't even check the oil herself). All I can say is that every mid 90's and earlier Hyundai myself or anyone I know has dealt with has been utter and comlete crap, requiring more effort and money to keep it running than the use/purchase of any alternative would have required.

On the other hand--now that I have put such a nasty face on a free car-- even if it does die, drive it 'till it does. Because, as has been stated so many times in this thread alone, free IS free.

4G63 is the Mitsubishi 2.0L turbocharged engine from the Evo and Eclipse.

If it's a manual you should TOTALLY go for it. It's a LOT of fun to drive around in a car you don't care about much, and just practice keeping it at redline all the time.

Have'nt figured out how to launch yet. but im getting threw the gears like cutting cake. Don't know if its worth really trying to tune. Body in good shape, engine bay clean. Feels like im pushing it when i get pass 60 but drives good, stick is loose. Hey its a 1990 so.....
