Yup - Xmas is coming a bit early for some long suffering NICOite!

Got my BOSE units replaced from those fine folks in Framingham - and the fill-in amps are going to be donated back into the NICO pool as thanks for all the assistance, comradery and $$$$ saved ! (I might even go as far as to help the next NICOite that needs a ride to pick up their new Vert)

To Dennis and the rest of you all - Many, Many Thanks !

The amps were from a I30 (96 or 97 per El !) but powered the 96 Q45 BOSE 6X9s just fine - if you are getting that dreaded hum-pop-hiss - try ‘em for the price of 10 minutes work -

I’ve got to agree that new units DO make a difference - they sound great - I’ve got a $2K setup in the other car, and something worth 3 times that in the house, yet I’m not willing to go through the effort as the BOSE setup is just fine for the old girl.

I’m sitting on 4 BOSE amps for the Q45 and a pair of 6X9s - would consider selling a pair if there is some serious need out there.

I could use one if it will fit the rear 94 Q. I have one out that I simply disconnected and have not had time to replace.

I'll send you both as there is probably a small difference in the sonic signature if you mix them and you're probably best served spending the 10 minutes dropping both in.

Use my E-mail at NICO or drop me an address at [email protected]

Nice work, Mike!

By the way, if ANYONE has cargo net hooks for a Q, please send Mike a couple (or even one).

He's been looking for one for a while, and I swore I'd find them for him...

p.s. Mike, check out the 240 convertible forum - the 'vert has turned into quite a project! Thanks again for the ride, the company, the beers and the assistance in looking over the car.

Mike -- Thanks a million! I really appreciate your kindness. FYI -- I went ahead and installed one unit to replace the passenger/rear unit that was out. Sounds great. I spent more time fumbling with the cover bolts -- not initially realizing that they are not metric, but 1/4" -- than actually replacing the unit.

So I have one old unit and one new(er). The new unit sound better. Maybe its just my old fried ears (too many ZZ Top/Fabulous Thunderbirds concerts in my youth), but the newer unit sounds better on base and treble -- deeper and brighter. I did notice that the old unit had a mark "Sigma 243" and the newer unit was "Sigma 275". No difference in size, however, I noticed a much larger capacitor near the clip on the new unit. Perhaps that older versions that fail, had too small of an output capacitor.

Now I will replace the other. Thanks again!!!!
