Hi, new Versa owner here. I bought a 2010 gray "S" hatchback with auto. First thing I did was remove the rear headrests to give me better visibility. No one rides back there. Next I wanted an armrest and looking at the removed headrest gave me an idea. I had some 1/2 inch PVC pipe and cut off two, 12 inch pieces. I put them over the two chrome extensions coming out of the headrest....a perfect fit. Next I shoved the assembly down between the center console and the driver seat with the seatbelt clip centered in the middle. I'm going to paint the pipes black with some plastic paint that I have. Viola...instant, free, armrest which matches the rest of the interior! Yeah, I know I'm cheap. That's why I bought a Versa. :)

Hope it works out for you, but I don't think many people will be following this mod since it will lead to interior damage as well as a potential safety hazzard since it is not bolted in place like the aftermarket armrests or the factory installed one.. also the headrest removal was not such a good idea it's for your own safety in case you have an accident which could cause serious injury to you.. just something you might want to think about :bigthumb:

Nismo V,
"also the headrest removal was not such a good idea it's for your own safety in case you have an accident which could cause serious injury to you"
You need to reread my post. I removed the REAR seat headrests.

"it will lead to interior damage"
How so???

"a potential safety hazzard since it is not bolted in place "
So everything that you carry in your car is bolted down? Ipods? CD cases? Books? Groceries? Boxes?

From your pic it is lodged between the seat and shifter/brake console which the plastic will easily be scuffed or scratched. Since it is a 2010 vehicle why damage that particular piece with scuffs and scratches  a new piece is about $200+ from the Nissan parts dept.

iPods have holders, books can go in a backback in the trunk as well as groceries and boxes.. and the safety issue(s) I saw was that a headrest was not designed to be a armrest it is designed for driver/passenger comfort and safety, and the headrest will not offer the same stability when used since it is lodged not bolted in place..

I know your trying to save cash, but using the right part could keep your ride looking good and keep it functional as well..
The console armrest holders factory/aftermarket could store those cd's..

Oh yeah I don't think your truly cheap because if you were you would have bought a used older car to save more $$$..

But no offense intended just some food for thought enjoy your ride Mikiee :bigthumb:
