I think I'm just being paranoid, but wanted to get some feedback from the forum.

I took my car in to get my windshield replaced. Let's not get into what happened. I've had our other car's windshield replaced at this location, so I trust them, somewhat.

I was told my car could not be done with remote service and that I would have to bring it in since it was more involved. The front desk woman told me it would be about two hours. It's now been 3 hours and when I called, she said some outside body parts had to be removed to replace my windshield. WHAT!?!?!? It's just the windshield, what are they taking off? I'm now waiting for one of the techs from the place to call me to explain what the process is.

Does anyone know what is involved in replacing a windshield? Why does it take so long and what body parts do they take off? There better not be a single scratch on my car...

Ok i'm sure you got the car back now, what i'm wondering is, what all did "they say" have to be done to replace the windshield? It could have been them feeding you sh*t because they hadn't started right away. I mean its the glass repair place, in other words instead of " we haven't started it yet", they say "we removed some other items to get the job done with ease, and insure quality".... let me know if they really had to do anything special incase anyone else ever needs it done.....

Don't know why the shop would tell you they couldn't do the replacement remotely as mine was done remotely. It is rather involved. Pieces above the doors have to be removed which surprised me. When the tech got out his sawzall that kinda scared me. It was used to cut through the adhesive from the inside. Not one mark on the dash, however. The guy definitely earned his money for the job. I've had no problems, leaks, etc since the job was done a little over a year ago. A rock thrown up by an Infiniti was the culprit to the chip on the drivers side. I insisted upon a Nissan factory windshield being used & my insurance company obliged.Did you watch them doing the work at the shop?
