Sopranos. Hands down. Best show on TV. My wife may like Sex and the City a little more. I'm not as big a fan of SATC but I really like Samantha (Kim Cattrall's character) .

HBO is a great channel. In addition to the original programming, I much prefer to watch movies on HBO which are unedited and without commercials than on network tv, with have endless packs of commercials every 6 minutes, and heavily editted movies. HBO is not the only channel I watch, but I think it's a bargain to keep. Just my $.02.

Hi,If you haven't watched Curb your enthuiasm, you'redefinately missing out. I don't get HBO so I have to watch olderepisodes on another channel (Show Case). Nonetheless, thishas become my favourite show ever.

Hi,Posing as a car Toyota salesman, a buyer approaches Larry:

Buyer: "The Celica, I notice there's a GT and a GT-S. What's the GT-S stand for?"

Larry: "Guaranteed...Tremendous...Safety"

Buyer: "So without the S, it's just Guaranteed Tremendous?"

Classic!

totally agree with curb your enthusiasm, incredible show, incredible writing. in the same vein as the old larry sanders show. unfortunately, over the heads of most. the old, "you get it or you don't". kinda like monty python humor, or the movies-spinal tap, waiting for guffman, and best in show. check them out!!!! jeff

I don't have cable, and I've seen some episodes of the shows in this poll. Just not that interested. But I will say that the Band of Brothers Series was great. I bought the series on DVD the first chance I got. There is no other war movie or show that depicts the sacrifices that soldiers made to give us the freedom we have now as well as it does...

Agree. Band of Brothers was well done. I had taped it for my father in law. There are a lot of other good HBO shows. LSanders was awesome, Hey now! Real Sports, despite being hosted by wormy Bryant Gumball, is good. Arli$$ was very funny.

good thing c-kwik and bubba1 mentioned band of brothers. I was gunna be mad if there was a thread this long about hbo shows and no one mention band of brothers. but I don't usually watch hbo for it's shows, I spend time watching Insomniac.

Yeah sopranos is classic. Anyone know when season 5 will be debuting?

And larry david on Curb is hillarious. Though somewhat dry, you can tell he truely was one of the writer's of Seinfeld. Some of the episodes like the 'pants tent', the shirt episode with Ted Danson, the one when he trips shaq, pretty funny stuff.

Oh and someone mentioned "best in show." Maybe worth seeing once, but my roommates watched it over and over and i couldn't stand it.

The best thing on HBO I think are the documentaries. Like we had digital cable with 'HBO on demand', where you can order up movies and shows any time you want. And one section available was documentaries. One was about the Ultimate Fighting Championship, like behind the scenes with one of the fighters, brutal in-fight scenes and sounds I never thought humanly possible. A full strength knee to the top of the skull made me cringe more than once. Also some other wierd documentaries about a dad getting arrested for selling his kids ecstacy, another one was about kids who had killed family members and were forced to reenact the crime in some type of group therapy juvenile prison setting. That stuff had true shock value, but it all depends what you're looking for on the tube.

ps-sorry for the long post. Get "HBO on demand" if available through your digital cable provider.

like i said, BEST IN SHOW, love it or hate it, get it or u don't kind of humor. i know people who will list any monty python or spinal tap as their best comedy of all time, when others can't stand 5 minutes of it. as for me,,,,,, pure comedy perfection!!!!!!!!!!!!!
