Alright, Heres the scoop. I've got a FWD CA18DE out of a pulsar. My plan is CA18DET intake plenum, exhaust manifold and turbo, pistons, KA24de Throttle Body, skyline MAF, CA16DE intake cam.I'm gonna put a CA18et bellhousing on my KA transmission. But, i need to know two things..... What about motor mounts to mate this with my s13, and what for an ecu. Could i adapt the FWD ECU? or would i have to go with a standalone? Also, is there anyone out there who can help me aquire these CA18DET parts. Im going to go with aftermarket pistons, but the other DET stuff i want used, to stay on the affordable side.

Feel free to offer your input and opinions about this swap!

-Thanx

your motor mounts from your KA will work on the CA. you can get most of that stuff that you want used on ebay. you will need a ca harness and a rwd CA ECU to run it. dont have to go standalone unless your going with something crazy like 700cc injectors and t3/t4. anything else you need to know?

man if you cant afford tires, then stop right now.dont try building a super cheap CA turbo motor cause im telling you right now youll end up breaking it, or throwing your money down the drain.

I can let all that stuff go for $75+ shipping.

Take slw240sx warning, dont do anything the cheap way. CA's dont like cheap, ghetto rigged stuff.

Yo Snowflakedrifter,

Let me be a big brother to you and point you in the right direction. You are asking for countless headaches and stomach ulcers. Why don't you just buy an engine set and save yourself the drama. And if you don't have the funds (because you said you're piss broke), you should just wait until you do. Low budget boosting is bad, but trying to turn a DE FWD motor into DET RWD motor on a "I'm broke budget" is wickedly absurd and a complete abuse of your precious time. Save your money and buy a motor set. Short cuts are bad for CA18's and what you're trying to do is no exception to the rule.

:withstup PREACH ON COUSIN! Listen to your fellow bretheren my little snowflake. Cheap and CA don't get along. Get a motorset. Do it right, the first time. Don't be a fool, rap your tool. A stitch in time saves 9. Always sleep on you back in prison. Never pick up dropped soap. Trust me on this, my logic is never flawed....

float the only flaw with sleeping on your back in prison is when you wake up with moring wood... and the place i was at had shower stalls with curtins and soap holders and what not.

Im in between pay periods right now. Plus my other car is pending sale, so im gonna get a huge wad. The reason i want to build one up from scratch, is so i can build a strong motor right away. Its easier to spend alot on a motor, but during a buildup, its spent over a period of time, rather than on a huge chunk at once like if i was gonna get a clip. I wouldnt do that anyway, cause i want my motor to be strong and fresh. Ill probably end up buying a bunch of new parts. I might just be buying a ca18det block and starting from there instead. I was just inquiring cause i have this stuff and wanted to know what i can do with it. Thanks for the advice though, you guys are a big help! I'm still considering doing this FWD conversion just cause its different....... Ill keep in touch to inquire about parts for sale............Thanx

Jon, I've never actually been in prison, so I guess you've got me beat in that department. Can I inquire as to how you ended up in jail?

i didnt make it to prison, but i did end up in a behavioral treatment center/drug rehibiltaion center, even though i never did drugs. they didnt want me togo into prison because they knew that i was intelligent and that i was "salvagable". so they sent me there. thankfully my lawyer and probation officer were working for me cause they got me out of a mandatory 2-8year sentence in prision. if i had gone id hate to think where i would be right now. im sure i wouldnt be holding down a 70+ hour week job and stayin out of trouble.

honestly it was a complicity to burglury charge. i was the driver when two exfriends of mine went to steal a Audi coupe from a garage one night, it was 5 years ago and i ended up in jail for 6months and on probation for 3 years, but i kept out of trouble met with my probation officer once a week for that 3years, even when i was living over an hour away i kept up the meetings. i had to pay a ton of money in fines and restitution. now in a bout 2.5years i have to hire another lawyer to have the felonys expunged. thats goin to cost me a pretty penny. i owe my PO alot, and i still stop in every once in awhile and take him out to lunch.

on a side note...the people in the office that i was making payments have been charged with theft of peoples fines and restitution moneys. some of that money was mine, its estimated i had over 2G lost to the courts because of that theft . i cant get it back.
