Ok guys, so I went to go trade my truck for a 240sx vert today.. But when I got there to check out the 240, I noticed that it had quiet a bit of frame rust.. So now I called the trade off, but then he calls me and says he'll throw some cash in as well. So my question is, how much do you think it will cost to swap a frame out, and do you think it will be worth it? Thanks for any info.

Matt

Ok, I've never fixed frame rust before, so I don't know how bad that really is, but to me, that looks terrible. I would probably try and find a cleaner car to trade for, unless he pays enough that a professional could completely clean it up for you. This makes me glad my car had a leaky valve cover gasket when I bought it, the bottom is so coated with oil there isn't a spec of rust underneath

I'm wondering how much it will cost??? any ideas?? Cause I will trade him if he gives me enough cash to cover the cost of the frame.

Oh man, I think you're better off finding a cleaner car. That's pretty bad. Find one down in Texas and have it shipped for 500 bucks or so

I would not buy that car. Rust can come back even if its fixed. I feel sorry for that 240 vert. Hopefully you will make the right decision. Unless you can find a shop that will spend the time and is cheap about the cost to fix the rust then its ok. But get advice from other members on the forum before you make your final decision.

THAT CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE!

if that car was wrecked, it looks like it could snap in half. those frames are practically useless.

you can't swap frames on a unibody car without a lot of cutting and a lot of welding. it's not worth messing with.

well it depends on how bad it is! if it isn't that bad, sand it down, hit it with some bedliner, and weld a sheet of quarter inch over it! now if it's in a couple of spots, i'd prolly pass on that one! frame swaps suck, i've done some for my lowrider buddies, and my 56.
