I just bought a 1991 240sx se, i already currently own a 1992 240sx SE. i bought this car because my 92 240 has an automatic transmission and the 91 is manual. i was planning on swapping out the trans because the 91 240sx has frame rails that are rusted to s***. but if there is anyway to save a frame rail from destruction, then i would rather keep the transmissions exactly in the same place. if anyone could help me out with this, id appreciate it. thanks

Only way is to cut and weld.

Just swap the engine/trans. It will only take a day

rusty frame rails huh? Don't bother with it, it's not worth saving. Just swap the stuff out.

take the motor out and replace the whole rail with some steel square tubes some beefy ones and you would have some kick a** rail but you would have to tap every single hole and bolt back on it

swap everything and throw away the rusted rails.

then part out the rest of the 91.

btw, how much for that little mechanism that holds the gas door closed shipped to 13148?

I've requested it in like 4 different part outs and nobody ever replies back...

Yeah there were, actually.:1989 - 681181990 - 605821991 - 345341992 - 270331993 - 21471

Now this is just wiki's version, but I see the numbers mirrored elsewhere as well...

now find the production numbers on civics. compare the two. there were something like 251410 240's made 89-98, now how many civics were made? i cant throw a rock without hitting a civic. and trust me ive crushed my fair share of them, and they are still running rampant.

Unfortunately for us and our pointless ramblings, Honda didn't release production numbers.

Here's something for perspective though: since Honda opened a plant in Ohio ~28 years ago, they have produced more than 20 Million vehicles!

My bad you have a point. 250 thousand + is not a lot.

Also, It's not like just anyone can slap new rails on a car like that. Most are not skilled enough, the others don't have enough cash to pay someone else to do it; you make it sound like pie.

For the trouble and effort, he could find a new one for cheaper. Sheesh...

He can swap out what he needs and sell the shell to someone who does know how to fix it. There! That satisfies everyone, lol.

Awesome i might get these just to have another place to jack the car up from. Frame Rails suck a** when i first got the car made the mistake of trying to do that and now i have a circular depression on the passenger side of the car.
