Well due to the fact, that i cant just "go buy a super clean shell for 700$" in michigan ive been looking at some 240's and ive noticed more than a few have some or a lot of lower frame rail rust. Now, ive been looking at frame rail replacement and it doesnt appear that difficult. Im a welder fabricator and have no problems with working with sheet metal, so is it pretty much as simple as just removing the rusted frame rails and welding in a new set? I mean i bet working with the more forward sections is probably a pain, but the worst ive generally seen is right underneath the cabin where it follows the curves up. Is it really that big of a deal? Or is it more so if the rails are rusted its probably rusted a lot of other places aswell?

Thanks,
Dakota

Xcessive makes a replacement/brace for the front curved area that slips over the frame rail.

All you do is cut out the rusted areas of the frame rail and slip this over it, and weld it.

There method of leaving the upper areas of the frame rail intact and welding a thicker plate of metal over it might be easier for attaching new metal to the rail.
