I've had this shell for awhile and finally had some time to work on it. Bought it for $400. After spending time stripping the shell out I found this.

I didn't think much of the rail at the time, more worried about rust, and did some research on frame damage. This seems pretty bad, right now I'm wondering if I should scrap it and find another shell.

He's showing the his whole chassis has felt the damage, the tunnel wrinkling like that must have been a hit. Your going to have to take that to the frame shop to get pulled straight, probably won't take but a couple of hours and not cost that much. What the hell did you hit?

I haven't driven the car yet. Fuel delivery has been a problem because of this.

More Discoveries

With the 3rd and 4th pic, the trunk appears to have "wrinkles" in the metal. The 5th pretty much confirms it.

I wouldn't put another dime into that car...clean shells are common enough to not have to settle for one that's been completely smashed at one time.

yea dude it would be cheaper to buy another one unless your a panelbeater.coz im in the industry and that is a big hit.to fix it would either need to be pulled on a chassis machine or need a new rail and new floor or section.but if you stick with it awesome man, good luck

well..a frame shop will probably charge about 500-600 on that damage, and the other little damage isn't really bad its whatever.

Just take it to a frame shop. or hell. get it driveable, and see if it drives straight. if it does, f*** the frame shop.

you can find a clean straight shell for that much or less. Honestly this is just a stock car and not worth the time and money.Take what ever is good off that car junk it and keep or sell the rest of the good parts and get a straight shell.

But why waste your time? Get this car driveable, any modifications can be swapped to a later shell when he finds a better one.

Yeah man, I'm backing everybody up that you should just get another shell. MUCH less headache for the entire project if you start with something that's in good shape. Straight body/frame and no rust....go forth and FIND!

I'd say do the fuel pump or whatever... get it running and see how it drives. If it doesn't wobble you to death and drives straight (even if it pulls a little, they might be able to correct it), I'd run it.

And if you get it running and something is a funky with it... demo derby that sucker or bring it to the 24 hours of Lemons.
