frame question

my buddy is selling a 92 240. its got a b&m short shifter, front and rear strut bars, full 3inch cat back, intake, and the motor has been seafoamed (only 138k on it) dohc. the only major problem with it, is that the front left part of the frame is starting/is rusted out. i havent looked but my mech looked so i cant tell you really how bad it is. i was wondering if it is worth buying. he's askin 1250 right now after i already talked him down. i have another buddy with a repair shop that can help me do the frame a bit cheaper. but i need to know if yes it is worth buying, and if so i will need to pull the body to reweld the frame. responses asap if possible...yes im a noob

it can be fixed but for 1250 its a lot more like 800

thats what i planned on telling him i would take it for. thanks. anyone else know what i would need to do to get to the frame/ reweld it

C'mon man.. pictures. For all we know the firewall is gone. More specifics please. Yes, the driver's side on all 240's rusts out because we are all too lazy to wash out the brake fluid that drips down after we top it off lol

The worst part is making sure you get all of the rust, as it is cancerous.

i bought one for like 1500 canadian and the whole f***ing underbody is shot lol.. i've got s***loads of work to do this summer on it.. but they're hard to find around here so 1500 aint that bad I guess.. anyway what's done is done..

I suggest you take a VERY good look at the underbody, all around the engine from inside and outside, under the battery, the inner fenders, the strut mounts, the frame rails.. take a hammer and give it good hits all around the underbody... I found like 20 holes that way.. it sucks to find them but better find them now than when the car litteraly falls apart...

alright dude, my driver side frame rail was rusted out pretty bad. i could see right through it. i also had 5 large holes in my floorpans. I had everything repaired at a local shop for $350. they did a damn good job too.get some other quotes. I'm sure you can get in done cheaper.

alright well im still trying to get back ahold of the guy cause im gonna offer him 800. if and only if i get it i will post up some photos of the rust. ill keep you guys informed

holy crap dude! i thought the rust on my coupe was bad! i could consider the frame and body on my hatch as mint! even with the slight twist in the front!

YABBA-DABBA-DOO!...haha..just pokin some fun..anyways..any rust damage can be repaird ..its just metal replacment...but how to battle it from comin back is the question...they make some undercoatings kinda like a rhino coating that will protect your rides underside from all that salt and shi-ts they dump on the roads back east..thats one way to do it..its the same stuff mercedes uses to under coat there cars...as for the repairs...while your welder/fabricator is there..have him weld a nice spiffy underbrace on your ride to with some square stock or tubular stock.. ..this will add some fun and controll...good luck man!

in that process right meow. ill have it home hopefully this week which is my spring break, so im pulling out the interior plastic pieces.(dash, consul, door panels and etc) to paint that poop brown:(

subframe looks about the same as mine, but i still have most of a floor pan in my 90. i could stuff my moms cat through the holes in my rear quarters though...
