hey. i found out the car im about to buy was in an accident before. Car fax says it's not a major one but im scared still. Does anyone know of spots in the car where i can check the frame and if it's straight enough to be used for autoXing and wont have any fitment issues when i try to swap another engine into it? Like any corners that should be 90degrees or what not..

please helptom

I wouldn't mess around with possible frame damage. If it were me, I would ask the current owner (assuming private party sale) to go with me for a little ride to a reputable collision repair shop. I'd imagine it wouldn't cost much to get the car inspected by a collision guy. A few bucks spent now could save you from a ton of problems later.

Good idea... take it to a collision repair shop. You wouldn't want to take chances with a bent frame, especially doing something like autocrossing.

Wow, carfax actually had that a car had been in a wreck! That is some sort of miracle. I buy/sell a lot of cars and they always come up clean. They have also all been hit in some way. Usually carfax won't have anything unless the car was totalled out or had a salvage title etc.

If I were you I would be very careful unless the owner has the receipts from when it was hit so you can verify it was minor.

They do have a unibody design, however the front bumper, supports, and the two front fenders are a bolt on-bolt-off affair. However, it makes swapping a rear quarter panel a gigantic PITA.
