Hey guys, quick question. I have a hole in the frame about 3 inches big from rust. I want to make sure this dosn't cause me any problems in the future. what should I do for the rust, and then what should I do for the hole?

the only safe option would be to cut out the rusted area and then weld in a new piece of sheet metal. If you just simply sand away the rust and spray it over, the rust has a chance of coming back.

Rust is a lot like mold

Serveral compaines make a rust to primer converter... I think por15 actually makes the area stronger. ask around at local shops, paint suplliers, or parts stores. if the area is 3" big that tells me that you got a case of car cancer. rust keeps spreading. nissan should still have rail sections... I think honestly I don't know but that would be the best way to go its the same metal, the same gauge, and it has all of the right bends and shape and form to it. if nissan does not carry the section you need goto a junkyard and have them cut out the section.

sounds ugly. get it onto a lift check every inch with a screwdriver, especialy the strut towers. if they're separated from the frame rail its wasted. wont hold an alignment. otherwise chisel and brush it out. scrub it with naval jelly. get it to bare metal if possible. then por15, rustoleum, undercoat. major problem with these cars. if you need welding take it to a shop so theyll have the right equipment for thin sheet metal or itll warp and weaken. keep posting. pics help. i just went through rust hell so i hope this helps.
