If you're going to make a thread asking people not to use Fram filters, you really should post details as to why.

Not that I agree/disagree with you, simply that someone will eventually ask " Why?" .

Heh, I've been advised by a couple of engine builders now, as well as people from other forums who have experience with them, that the filter core breaks down early in their life. It is in part due to the high 80PSI oil pressure, eventually resulting in general oil starvation. I like my new main bearings enough that I wouldn't put them through that kind of emotional strain!

If you change the filter every 90 day 3750 miles which ever is sooner even a dollar store filter will work.

The filter media never sees the full pressure because the filter bypass valve opens at a low differential pressure.

Most people don't realize simple steady highway cruising stresses a filter highest................at cold crank and wot the filter is invisible to the oil [zero filtration].

Don't confuse oil filter housing pressure with media pressure.

I'm on a mission to understand why I have a spring and ball bearing in my oil filter assy. I understand this to be the purpose of it : ball bearing sees pressure increase and is forced upward and compresses the spring... the oil flows through and into the filter at higher oil pressures?? I was looking for a spot to install my oil temp sensor.. removed stock pressure sender and tried to fit.. there was something in the way and I discovered the spring.. I am trying to find out why it is there and if I can do without it.
