FPR stuck closed ? Is that even possible ?

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

I replaced the intake manifold on my rb25 sII , and since then , If i start the fuel pump ( with the car not running , pump directly on 12 v like ) the pump start , then stop by dying under too much pressure .

I tought clogged line , but the fuel came out at full pressure even after the fuel filter .

I tought clogged fuel rail ? The fuel come out of the fpr hole.

But with the frp on the rail , nothing come out of it . I replaced my old nismo adjustable fpr and put the stocker back on , same problem .

Can both of my fpr died during the winter storage ? Let me know what you think !

I would go to the parts store and get a Fuel pressure tester.I would assume that you do not have a fuel pressure gauge.

Although with a AFPR you should have one.How did you set the pressure?

What pump are you running?Maybe its dying.??

I know a LOT of people put the fuel lines on backwards. I'm not saying you are, but it's something easy to check.

Yes I have a gauge and it go higher than 65 psi . I run a walbro 255 and it pump just fine when the fpr is removed from the line ...

Well since you said the pump is working and it makes it to the FPR then maybe the fuel return line is blocked.

you can test the fpr by physically sucking on the vacuum nipple and then plugging it with your tongue while you are still sucking... when you release your tongue you should feel the diaphragm move/release.... this would test if the diaphragm is working although as I type this I'm not sure if it would matter if the FPR was stuck closed somehow lol

You sure you have the lines hooked up the right way? haha

they do fail, i have seen several go south on imported engines...if they sit too long without fuel or old fuel they will seize.

Is the Return hose from the FPR to the tank blocked??

I guess try pulling the gas cap and using a LOW pressure on your compressor and blow into the tank and have a friend listen for air.

Something similar to this happened to me and a nismo fpr that i had. It wasnt holding enough pressure and when i would try to crank it up--it wouldnt dump any to the rail. Replaced both the fuel pump and the fpr with a tomei unit and zero issues.

yup, i have seen nismo FPRs fail too...not very reliable units if they see fuel then dry out.
