I know that T88Lexus said that a DSM one can be made to fit. Can a Nismo SR/KA one be used?

you just have to modify something on it a little bit.

you can use a universal one and just run it through the stock one, because of how they work. it regulates fuel by not letting it get below a certain point, so it you just hook another one up before the stock unit, set at say 50psi, then the stock one will just let 50psi through. just my $.02

or spend the same amount of money on a nismo unit that goes in place of the stock unit.

The Nismo unit will do just fine! I use it on my g/f's car and it works perfectly.
