I was wanting to know how much vac i should see on the line for the fpr on a ka24e i have 18 now cause i have it pluged in to the intake. Is that ok? On my ka24det thats how i have it and it is fine idk about the kae though. Any help would be nice, because when i unplug it it seems to idle smoother for a sec then mack to a kinda stumble idle. But if you hood the rpm up a bit it runs fine so its just at idle.

18 at idle is kinda low...

Have you performed a compression test?

They call for something like 15-20 at idle on the intake of a ka.

From those numbers, you have a perfect motor. I'd like my fluttering gauge at 15 to be 18 steady.... your vaccum is fine.

What exactly is the problem you're having? The motor runs a bit rough/shakes at idle and until higher RPM? Adjust your TPS, as they wear it changes the readings it gives, which confuses your ecu, and messes up your advance, I believe. It makes the motor shake.

I was thinking it was the aic mayb but how do you adjust the tps? This is a 90 d21 and where is the aic on it haha

I don't think it's the iacv causing a rough idle, and I don't know where it is if thats a single cam, but nico has the FSM's free, take a look. It will probably also have a diagnosis procedure for your problem.

Again, if it's a single cam I don't know the spec (s13 ka24de is .44v) but it will be in the manual. You stick paper clips into the back of the TPS plug along 2 specific wires, and then loosen it and twist the tps back and fourth it until a multimeter gives the specified reading, and then (very carefully, and with much cursing and re-adjusting) tighten it in again (it helps to have it bolted semi-tight so that it takes a bit of force to move it so that it stays once you get the right reading, makes it much easier) tighten ti back up.

Coolant temp sensor can apparently do that sort of thing too, but I don't know (my motor shakes a bit, TPS helped but since my gauge works nicely, I have't bothered with the temp).

Even if you're not getting the code, you could use mafs cleaner and see if it helps, it might.

My s13 had a bad temp plug once. It made it run funny.

Ment to tell you that ka has two temp senors. The one with the red plug is for ech the one with the black plug is for the gauge. If the one for ecu is bad it will idel funny but the gauge wipl read right.

Ok guys i have changed the tps the maf the coil the power chip and fpr and still it idles wront i set the tps then unpluged it and set the timing and pluged it back in and i am at 10 degrees. It runs great on cold start till it warms up. I am starting to think its the after market air cleaner. It has some top hat style air cleaner on it.

You have to set the TPS while it's plugged in. You read the voltage accross two wires, while they're plugged into the harness.

Do this by getting thin paper clips and bending them strait, and pushing them in the back of the connector, up against the wire you want to tap the voltage off of. If you do it right it will slip right past the rubber in the plug, and contact the pins, and you can use the multimeter on the paper clips to get your reading. It helps to bend the end into a loop or something so that you can tape the probe onto it, giving you both hands to work on the TPS, since it's already a real pain to get it tightened in exactly the right position.

I mean, I guess you can do it by resistance, but are you sure you got the spec right? I've read the procedure for testing that it works that way, and the ohm range that it should cover, but even that same procedure said to adjust it by checking the volts.

It should be plugged in, and the ignition turned to "on" (with a fully charged battery) while you do it.
