This situation started with my vehicle not starting , sometimes key recognize, sometimes not! I had it towed to the Infiniti dealer. I had it diagnosed, (6 days later) I was told of the IMPD was faulty along with the Engine harness and this would cost me $4800.00 to repair, I said non thank you and I will have my vehicle towed back and would look elsewhere. The rep said "Mr Woods, sleep on it and reconsider. I will look to see if we can bring the price down". Granted, I slept on it, I called to see if the price could have been revised. 3 days later the rep called back to say it could be done for $3860.48, once again I said "no thank". His reply was " Let me talk back to my manager, I will call you later today", didn't hear from him for 3 days. I called back to hear that he was ill. I asked to talk to a manager, was kept on hold for 40 minutes, he got on and said "let me review your package and I'll call you back". Needless to say he never called back....The original rep called back (5 days later) to explain that he had been ill and he apologized. The new statement was "Mr. Woods our calculation of the $3700.00 price was wrong, the parts are more then previously calculated. The new total for the repair is $4000.00". I was extremely upset but I have learned that getting upset doesn't settle anything. So I kindly said no thank you, I'll send for my vehicle. Once again he said "Ok I'll call you back" I said "No need, I will send for my vehicle"....he put me on hold, then the manager I talked to 10 days ago got on the phone and said "Mr. Woods I see you don't want us to do the work?... I said "Yes Sir, it is too expensive"....He said "Sorry to hear that but you know if you send for your car you will be charged for the diagnosis of your car and storage from the first day your car arrived till today at $56.00 a day". At this point, I was extremely close to making a grave mistake but I kept my cool. I took a breath and said....."Ok you all can repair me vehicle". It should go without saying that I am "lawyering" up! I share this so this will never happen to anyone else. I will keep you all updated!!!!!!

I would've asked for my car back regardless, this problem is not common and people on here have solved it for far cheaper than 4800 dollars..keep us updated but I don't seem to trust these folks

Bloody Nora! The treatment you received at that dealer is simply deplorable! It is reasonable to charge you for the diagnosis, but that is all they should charge for. You are right. They simpoley CANNOT charge you anything else unless you signed a paper that includes that provision. Since you had it towed there, they can't possibly even have a signed work order much less storage agreement.
In hindsight, it might have been better to contact corporate before authorizing them to do the work. Corporate might have ordered them to charge for diagnosis only and release the car to you without storage fees.
Please keep us updated on the results.

Sucks you're in this boat but after the initial run around, I would have picked it up and saved myself like 10 days of storage. Let us know how it ends.

Your lawyer should ask for three things:

1) Price they paid for the parts
2) Their labor rate
3) Documented hours of work with proof or the book hours for the job. If the book says the job is 4 hours and they take 10 to do it...something is fishy.

My guess that price will be far cheaper. They were tacking on a grand or two which is why they were willing to move off the original price, etc.

Holy hell. You're 100x more patient than I am.

I'd have been on the evening news, and that dealership would be closed for a few days.

I'm sorry you felt the need to give in. You didn't have to. I bet if you were face to face with them you could of had your vehicle released to you and definitely not to the tune of $4k...

As I tell everyone with a M 2006-2010 it’s no need to ever take your car to a dealer for most repairs find a good shop that is use to Japanese cars. I got a quote from the dealer to replace the oil pan and it was damn near 3k guy down the street did it for $1000 with pan gaskets everything and changed both control arms for a extra $150. Hope you get your car back to running but it’s no need for dealer in most cases on older vehicles out of warranty.

Back when my car was stock I used to take it to the dealer for everything, but it was getting to the point that they stopped stocking parts for our old platform. Anything besides an oil change required the part to be ordered. Now I have so much aftermarket parts and work done I cant even take it to the dealer anymore. lol

@Ilya I have retained legal counsel and they are exercising all avenues in getting this case resolved in my favor. Updates will be forthcoming.

Good thing lawyers exist...I'm about to retain some as well to battle it out with Allstate who is trying to give me wife 85% of her cars total value when their driver was 100% at fault.

Good luck!
