I assume the way Jacko drives, he does have a full cage?! At least I hope.

Oldandslow:

I am doing just fine. Yep, the track i go to is similar to the track on the youtube video except for the two tight turns in the middle of the clip, and the long strectch way close to the end of the strip. Other than that, the track looks exactly the same in terms of the curves.

If you watch the clip again, i will attribute the crash to over confidence. Each time I hit my secret track, i take it seriously. When i get over confident, I instantly reduce my speed. Secondly, the young kid seemed to be using too much braking while relying too little on his steering input and the mass of the car. Both braking and steering input has to be at par or equivalent. Thirdly, he had a turbo in the car, as the air cooler in the clip illustrates, which may have added to his excessive steering input. I am unsure how well the suspension of the car matched the power he was laying down on the road. Fourthly, I have no idea what type of tires he has on that car. Just my 2 cents. I could be wrong.

I agree with your concern! For now, no cages! Thanks for the concern, though.

Yes,Thank GOD for the rollcage! This Guy was doing pretty good for his supposedly first time at Willow Springs.Although his lines were off,He was doing about 1:30 (minute and a half). That is certainly equal to the best racers at that track.I was very impressed, and I am only doing a 1:45 on the same track in My Pantera. The reason he crashed: That turn(turn 9) is a decreasing radius turn.If You hit the apex too early,You run off the track to Your left, upon exit, into the dirt.If You get two tires in the dirt, and either try to over correct,or brake too hard, the two tires that still have traction, will grab and cause You to spin.He spun sideways back onto the track, and at at least 100mph sideways,You see what happened.

Actually,I did the same thing, but luckily I didnt flip.My instructor said "if You get two wheels off in turn 9,hold the wheel straight, and gradually slow down.Dont try to get back on the track."So I eased off the gas a little, but the pantera being mid engine, letting off the gas will upset it's balance. After that,Im not really sure what happened.Spinning at 100 mph is quite a wild ride.Luckily the car was OK, and I was back on the track the next session.Anybody want a ride?

Wow! That must have been really hair-raising. You said, "if You get two wheels off in turn 9,hold the wheel straight, and gradually slow down.Dont try to get back on the track." i would agree, as I have come close to this scenario before. But then, if I keep the steering straight, aren't I at risk of hitting whatever is on front of me, like an embarkment?

Jacko, If You are talking about getting in trouble on the street,Your scaring Me.If You lost traction in a normal rear wheel drive car, letting off the gas should straighten out the car and let You regain control.Mid engine and front wheel drive cars act entirely different. What I was saying about steering straight while slowing the car down ,applies to this racetrack, because there is lots of runoff area around the track. When I got two wheels in the dirt,My intention was to steer straight ahead and come to a slow stop.I did not touch the brakes, and did not turn the steering wheel. If I was driving a normal rear wheel drive car,I probably would not have spun out.

What do you define as a normal rear wheel drive car? when i choose to drive crazy, I go to my secret track. I have two cars---one front wheel drive and the other rear wheel drive. So, i am confused about your comment

JackoI meant normal rear wheel drive ,as in ,engine in front and drive wheels in the back.As opposed to a mid engine car with drive wheels in the back.

You have a Pantera? Very sweet. I just bought my GF's Buell off a guy who owned 2 down in Oceanside. Both were covered, but he showed us one. It was super clean. I wish I had my camera with me. He said hes going to be selling them as he and his wife are moving to Florida.

Hi C-KwikYou being local, I figured We might have run into each other at Willow.I once bought some pantera parts from a guy near the beach that had an upper shelf in his garage, lined with a bunch of special edition Duccattis! And then he had his "daily driver Duccattis" on the ground, parked next to His Panteras.10 or so Duccattis,& 2 Panteras.I needed a set of training wheels for my chin that day.

Unfortunately, I never had the chance to run the G oon a track before I sold it. And the turbo 240 I had before that had a speed limiter at 110. So Big Willow never made sense to me, not to mention it wasn't rented out very often by the group I usually signed up with at the time anyways. Had plenty of time at the Streets of Willow though.

LOL @ the training wheels. Hell, I'd be content to have an upper shelf in my garage that could store motorcycles. The 3 I have now makes it hard to walk around in the garage as it is...

What made you sell the G, C-kwik?

Also, you don't live around me do you? There was a guy in a Titan last night who decided to race me up Pigeon Pass. When we got to a stop light, he just shrugged with a smile on his face.

Nice to see people not get all butt hurt or super crazy on the roads.

C-KwikI run at Willow with the Cobra owners club, and with the Ferrari/Pantera club. They both let other cars run with them too,so You should check them out.The Cobra event was a few weeks ago,and I took My G out for the lunch time 50 mph session.I had a blast , and was very impressed with My new G.I used the Jacko advanced driving technique of no brakes, and did 2:20 laps, so I must have been going a little faster than 50 mph.I have no doubt that I could easily approach a sub 2:00 in the G ,but going those speeds in My brand new car,and having no roll cage is too scary for Me.

I sold it to get a 350Z. Particularly since the GT had been released. Unfortunately, the dealers sold out of the 6MT GT with Nav by the time the G sold so I decided to wait for the 07 model to hit the floor. In the interim, I got a 95 Maxima, and started trying to use it for more outdoorsy stuff and realized a truck suited me better. Found a great deal on a Titan and the rest is history.

I live in Orange County, so I doubt it was me you saw.
