found this in my oil pan.

i was removing my oil pan to do the gasket and I found this. What is this anyway and where it came from anyway? Just some broken plastic pieces. Image

Looks like timing chain guides. Time to pull the front apart.

I assumed you meant pulling the front apart just to check? I did a search on NICO with the write up and it said you don't need the guides.

from what i undertand if you dont have the guides your chain can eventualy wear throught the metal or it can weakent the chain.....if you think about it why would nissan put it on there if you didnt need it ...dont be lazy or cheap and just replace it

They are talking about the upper chain guides.

lol i found a hand full of that s*** in my oil pan. but it was from my old guides. i already had a new one put in, that is After the chain ate into something cuasing my oil to mix with water. I wouldnt let that go so easily. I agree with everyone else put a new timing chain assembly in before it ends up doing somthing worse.
