I hear ya....by now we're all just ready to give up on him

Nala...stop looking for car parts for a car you dont "own" yet and pay attention to your grades...one day you might want to upgrade past the J, or at least make it out of HS to get the J.

Let's see, the purpose of carbon fiber is for weight savings but the part you are wanting to replace is PLASTIC to begin with. The only weight saving you will experience will be a lighter wallet.

NOW QUIT SPAMMING THIS FORUM WITH THIS F&F CRAP PLEASE!!! You've about got me to the point where I don't even like coming on this forum.

Oh, calm down. At worst, he blows all his money on fake carbon fiber and expensive wood dash kits (which will look like crap together, by the way...think about it), thinks his car is the bees knees for a little while, and then takes everything off because he's tired of being made fun of.

It took me a little while to get over a ricey stage, but I never actually bought anything like that for my car. I just planned it out and then drove the car stock, mostly because by the time I had it all thought out, I realized it looked like a box of garbage on wheels.

Dude, post whatever you want. Seriously, it's your car, and you can do whatever you want. Just be prepared for opinions (good and bad), and be prepared to ignore them and do what you want anyway. Just sayin', in my eyes, tacking a bunch of faace carbon (or real carbon, for that matter) onto various parts of any car makes it look stupid. If I saw a BMW with rear window curtains, fake carbon fender flares, a generic spoiler, a roof spoiler, stick-on chrome trim falling off, and cheap bits on various parts of the car (mesh in the front fascia, etc.), I would probably laugh pretty hard, shake my head in disappointment, or tell the dude his car looks like a cheap toy from Wal*Mart. Probably all three.

That doesn't mean it looks like crap to everyone, just me. You don't have to take it to heart.

That's pretty much what I was saying. Just let him do what he wants to his car.

I'll still be voicing my opinion though, heh.

ewww...the J is already considered underpowerred by some....a smaller 4cyl would just make it unbearable to drive.

it's the VG30DE, I think we've went through discussions about a of a lot of the 300ZX parts available and about 90% will fit. And there are a select few of the other 10% depending on brand that might, but no one has taken the time and spent the money to find out either way, that I know of. (i.e. headers)

I've always thought an SR or even a KA engine swap would be cool in the J, as long as it was built and boosted to at least 400 hp.

Too much coin. I think you could do a built/boosted KA on the cheap end of any motor swap available.

-- I hear ya, but if I were to do a swap, I def. wouldn't want to decrease the # of cylinders, esp. with such a heavy car. That's just me, don't get me wrong, if anyone can do it right, it's you. But as far as the vh-powered J goes, and that's only once a new dd is in my hands, there's an old, low mileage Q out there somewhere that's about to be rear ended and sent to salvage, and maybe if I can be in the right place at the right time, it will come to fruition. BTW-- how about this thread jack? IMO we polished a turd. lol.

400 hp is 400 hp weither it's from a 4 cyl or an 8 cyl

--True, but what will the vh's internals handle? IDK for sure, but I'd bet you could trump 400 horses easy. Plus the V8 would have a throatier exhaust note, and the VH45's intake manifold is IMO not only great looking, but has the Infin. logo, which is a plus.

Not to mention that whole deal about torque in a 4 cylinder vs. torque in an 8 cylinder.

screw them all...just wait on an overly spoiled rich kid to have their parents buy them a new GT-R, total it because they cant drive, and then grab that engine...lol

My last car with a 4 cyl had way more torque than it did hp. (Golf with 1.8 turbo, chipped, downpipe, pullies, etc.) about 200 hp and over 260 torque so that doesn't support your statement.

Stock #s on an '02 are 180hp and 174tq. They're torquey motors to begin with, so it must have been pretty quick. Sweet.

But...a V8 will still have more torque than a 4 cylinder. A 4.6 V8 from an '05 Mustang had like 320 lb. ft. from the factory. I think it just kind of comes with displacement.Obiously modding changes things up. A lot of us have probably seen a Civic beating a Viper video.

Yes it was a blast and I ran a 13.9 1/4 in it on street tires.

My point was that we are not talking about a stock KA or SR. I was talking about a built/boosted one at the 400 hp mark or so and how I think it would be cheaper/easier to do a swap of that kind rather than the V8 you are talking about or even the tt vg.

Torque on turboed motors is crazy even on 4 cyl.
