Well a while back my air intake tube was broken by the dealership while my car was being worked on.the replacement is somewhat expensive so a way to temporarly fix problem is a product called "WrapIt Repair" that I found in autozone and its like double sided tape, here is a website that shows how the product looks
http://amazon.builderdepot.com/browse.i ... id=1355943
Here's a couple of tips when using the product and use caution not to cover a hose hole in the intake tube.
When u locate the crack in the intake tube count 1or 2 gaps behind it on both sides or what ever seems more comfortable/appropriate for your application. Now use some of that tape and make wrap it length wise like a worm and make it long the product stretches and u need enough to cover the groves on the intake tube(make it flush with the upper part of the groove so u can make more of an air tight seal)u can use another product to cover groves but wouldn't recommend it because small particles can break off thru time and get into the crack into the tube and into intake.clean the intake and wrap the tape worm around the grove tightly and make it flush with the upper part of the grove and repeat the steps again for the other side and to as many as the grooves needed on ur application.now on the grove where the crack may be u want to leave it with out tape(I didnt as a precaution I didnt want it to get sucked in the crack when gasing heavily) then wrap the area with the tape tightly and it will mold to the grooves so use caution and make sure the crack of the intake is in the middle of the tape when wrapping and wrap it as many times needed making sure u dont leave gaps or lumps so stretch the product that helps.the product claims an airtight/water tight seal that has a temp range of 80f to +500 intermittent and withstands fuel, oil, and acids.it is self fusing double sided and easy to work with.I have had used it for a couple months and dont have a problem with my intake when I had it and the tape is black and after installation it doesn't look bad under the hood u can barely notice.you can do this install many different ways and these are just some ideas I guess to get u started and also remember "ALWAYS READ" THE PRODUCTS INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING PRODUCT IN ANY APPLICATION. sorry for the caps,it just some people
So good luck on your diy and always plan before doing(measure twice cut once) and remember its a temporary fix...feel free to add u guys 2¢ and ways y'all fixed it.
