found cheap engine

Hey guys I found a a 92 Ka24de not running. I haven't seen it but the place is selling it for 250. should I buy. would it be worth it to tinker with. also if I do buy it and fix it up, if its not too far gone. how much would it cost to drop it in my s13? I know its waaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than a sr or rb.(i'll get an rb one day)

it depends on a lot of things. what rebuild you do, stock, or aftermarket.250 is kind of high for a blown engine.im buying a whole 240 with a blown engine for 300 total.if you know the history of the engine, whats broken, if you can trust the shop, accessories, etc, maybe it would be a good buy.but on the other hand, if you assume it needs a full rebuild, if youre going to do it yourself, youre looking at around 1000 bucks (total, including engine purchase) to do it right.if youre looking at having someone else do it, youre looking at close to double.so maybe in that relation, the sr isnt that expensive after all?if youre going to just uproot your ka later to put in an overseas engine, you might as well skip this step. its not necessary and will add up very quickly.

you can pick up whole running DE's with transmission for $250 in most cases, so a blown one isn't worth $50.

ok so what if I just fix the engine and keep it stock. what kind of prices can I expect?

youre still looking at near 1000 to do it right.look around more, get a better dealunless the only thing wrong with the de at the shop is a water pump or something like that.
