First off, my car has still not run correctly for me ever. Countless things it could be. And I have replaced pretty much everything it could be. Just a couple small stuff now.

I'm taking apart the intake manifold to clean it out, replace gaskets, and the almighty iac valve-( my fav.) Pretty dirty, and found some oil or something- forgot to smell it Take a look and tell me what ya think, after that picture is the broken clip I found.

The 2 big plugs that are bolted to the top of the fuel rail. The bolt holds both, the rail and the braket for these plugs. Those are good! One goes to the iacv and the other goes to the broken clip I found.

What does that clip go to?

Please tell me what you guys think, and let me know if I need to post up more pics.

That broken clip/harness is your knock sensor, it's completely gone from the looks of it.Bolts here...like so.

Someone verify but I believe it would retard the timing and run rich and have sluggish acceleration.

Those are my symptoms! Positronone, you probably fixed my motor.... I can't believe that I discover this after all the shops it's been to and how many people pointed at another part and said, " that's your problem right there".

Now the only problem, I'm going to the part out thread this second. But where do i find a new or used wire clip? Hell, I just need the clip. I can solder that ***** back together.

FRSport has a good deal on knock sensors http://www.frsport.com/Genuine....htmlAs far as that harness goes, you're probably already doing the best thing and looking for someone parting out their motor. They could sell you that harness and probably the knock sensor with it unless you just want a new one for piece of mind.

I may be wrond but looking at the pic that you took of the clip, you might just need a knock sensor. The end of that harness looks sorta intact, maybe it was just the end of the knock sensor that broke off.

No, it's the clip itself. I should get a knock sensor anyway tho! I'm trying to get a new clip but no luck so far. I found the wire clip holding the plastic piece that broke off. Can it be fixed?

Good question. I'm not sure about that one. I'll keep my eyes open for another harness though.

I just realized the knock sensor is the same for a 240/180/silvia and even 300zx.The clip is obviously the same, get the point?

The sensors themselves are the same, but the subharness is different. If you can land a used one off a KA, you can solder the connector for the sensor itself back to your SR subharness. Where the subharness connects to the EFI harness is different between the SR and KA variants.

That's what I figured. Just get the pigtail to the sensor and solder it!

Please be sure to post back to let us know if this worked.

Just would be nice for other people searching for this problem in the future.

Another tidbit:

Go onto Ebay (I know gasp) for OEM knock sensors. YOu can typically find them in the 50-60 range shipped.

So I soldered on the new clip with sensors, plugged everything in. And she still runs the same. I still need to check timing, but I don't know now if this was my problem. It still runs rich as hell with sluggish acceleration, any ideas ?

Don't know what to do
