It happens to be right under and next to the power steering resivuor. I think because the car had a powersteering leak when I bought it and the fluid which I belive is hydroscopic so it laced the area and with the heat from the headers rusted realy bad.I should have taken a picture of it but my car is in hamton which is 45 minute drive. So I took pictures of my hatch to show you were I'm talking about. I circled the area were there is definate rust in red and a guess on how far in it goes in yellow.

I cant get the images to work so here are the links.

Its not going to be easy to fix but my plan is to go to the junk yard with a sawzaw and cut out the part of the fame and strut tower I need. Clean and remove the rust after I get the wheel and suspension off. Then I will weld the panel I cut out behind the rusted area and use fiberglass or bondo to make the area smooth so I can repaint it.

Hey Nick, has the rust ate a hole through the metal already? Or bad enough where you couldn't wire wheel the rust off the metal and rust treat it? If your gonna go sawzall a piece out of another s13 now is a good time to go to PNP, they had 3 fastbacks last week when I went.

the rust doesn't look bad enough to warrant that much metal replacement. I would strip the paint down and see the extent of the rust, and then decide how much to remove if it comes down to that.

Surface rust can be stopped easily. A good rust inhibitor and a wire brush/die grinder can fix it before it becomes bad.
