Hi all, first post. I'm looking for a "new" car and one of the models I'm interested in is an '09-'11 G37x coupe. Looking online (cars.com, autotrader.com, etc), I'm surprised that so many are available with low mileage and reasonable prices. I'm also surprised at how few of them at Infiniti dealerships that aren't CPO. I read through the forum the last few days and haven't seen any obvious red flags and several threads praising the reliability. Why are so many folks getting out of the car after a year or two and under 20K miles? The obvious answer is 2-yr leases, but alot of them I'm seeing weren't lease cars.

A little about myself: I've owned 3 Audis (89 200 Quattro, 94 S4, 05 S4) in the last 17 years and like horsepower/handling and keep my cars stock. My current DD is a 2005 6MT Audi S4 (340hp V8) that I've had for almost 3 years. I love the power, handling, and sound of my S4, but it's had some of the known common issues the model has. The big one that I haven't had (and don't know if I will) is timing chain tensioner failure that requires an engine pull and costs upwards of $5K. It's not common, but is frequent enough that I don't want to have anything to do with it, and is the reason I'm currently shopping for a new ride. Besides a G, the other cars I'm considering are another lower mileage CPO S4 ('07 or '08), an RS 4, S5, and believe it or not, an '07-'09 Trailblazer SS (395hp detuned Vette engine).

Welcome to NICO! I've had a few G's and my most recent one was an 09 G37S Sedan...the car was just not "me". But that was because it was a sedan. I had a G35 coupe prior to that, and it was great...but was too tight for a car seat. Now that my kid is older, I wanted a car with some power...so I jumped ship. If Infiniti made the G with a V8 option, I probably would have went with another one. Just not enough HP for me.

But, the G37 is a great V6! I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference between it and your S4....power-wise.

In the end, it comes down to preference...If you want a beast, the G isn't for you....but if you want a modern sports coupe/car, it is one of the best bang-for-buck cars you can get!

ive seen the same thing, and been wondering why there are so many low milage Gs on the market, infiniti does have a pretty low ~$400 lease for a G...

i got 72k miles on my 2010 G37x sedan and havent had one issue with the car. Coming from a S5 to G37 you will lose that V8 torque you are used to... but you keep about the same HP and and handling characteristics. you gain gas milage, and the newer Gs 2010+ have a revised interior that should be an update to your 05 S4. Sounds wise a V6 just cant compete with a V8, but the G37 does have a great sound nether the less. back seat room is about the same in both coupes. I personally didnt go Audi or BMW mainly because of reliability and as you can see i put my cars through their paces with 72k miles in 2 years.

(im speaking from being a frequent rider in my homeboyz 09 S5)

Thanks, guys. Pre-owned prices on these are great for buyers, but suck for sellers. Something for me to take into consideration.

Infiniti's seem to take their greatest reduction in value the first couple years. Afterward they stabilize and keep their value.

Food for thought.
