A recent series of events has prompted me to compose a brief thread on forum etiquette. Contrary to popular belief, this thread is not directed at anybody specifically, but instead it is directed at all members of the Pathfinder/QX4 forum.
When posting, you should act as if you are speaking to the person in real life. You should speak to the other members as if you are standing right in front of them having a conversation. Before you submit your post, you should always read the post and make sure there is nothing in that thread that is rude, harassing, or just plain mean. You need to understand that no members are all-knowing, or think they are. The reason most people join forums is to learn more about a specific topic. If you look back to most members very first post, you will see that they came here because they had a question or concern with their truck or they were looking for more information on their Pathy or Q.
This leads me to my next point: if you see a post with inaccurate information, please correct it in a kind fashion. At some point during their forum membership each member will post inaccurate information at least once, it's a fact. You don't have to make another member feel stupid by replying rudely. One tip that I find extremely helpful is before I make a post, I usually ask myself if this post will be helpful to anybody besides myself. If it is, then I will post it, if not then I will not post it.
This brings me to my last point: I will be implementing a three strike system. The forum software switchover has granted us a warning system. I will use this warning system to give strikes. On the third strike you will receive a temporary ban of one week (seven days). On your fourth strike you will receive a permanent ban from NICO. I recommend that all members review the NICO terms of service agreement if they haven't already.
I have locked this thread to prevent public replies, if you have any questions or concerns please contact me via PM or e-mail. Thank you.
