Hey Nico,

So in 2 weeks i will be purchasing a set of coilovers for my ca powered Hatch.

Im down to 2 brands that im looking at. Fortune Auto 500s or Stance GR+Pros.
ive heard great things about both companies and very little negative about both as well.

my car is my daily driver and will be used mostly for street with the occasional drift session when the feeling hits.
the spring rate i want for the stance is 8k/6k and for the fortune autos im still debating if i should stay with 7k/6k or up it the 8k up front.

ive done my research on both companies and stance has a better following but im at a stalemate.
just wondering what you guys think, maybe that will help make my choice

all opinions welcome!

Stance is more expensive, but really good. Fortune is relatively cheap, yet they're still good, except they're not rear pillow ball. If you can afford the Stance GR+, then get those, if not, you won't regret getting Fortune Auto. I know a lot of guys with FA that swear by them.
My buddy Andrew rocks FA's and loves them.

And my buddy Sylas also uses them and loves them; and his car is stupid low.

what did you get?

daiyama
they ride nice and are pretty good quality but dont go low enough in the rear for my liking.

fortunes service is top notch, free custom spring rates, rebuildable in the usa, tested like crazy, quality pillow balls, and they go low..
but i really just want them cuz there a sweet color green.

That was gonna be my plan too. I'm still considering it, but I'm also looking at Apexi N1 coilovers. Apparently, they let you fit 17x10+18 without extended brackets or spacers. Plus they're supposed to ride better than Megan... But I'm still researching though.

17x10+18 up front. 235/40 tires on Apexi N1 Pro coilovers with no spacers or extended brackets.

AZhitman is compiling a coilover buyer's guide. Personally, I gonna wait until that comes out before I make any decisions.

I have Fortune Autos, they're great. I've also driven on Stances and Megans. Like other said, Stance would be better if you had the money but Fortune Auto is great too. If you're on Zilvia, talk to Billy from Import Image Racing and he'll get em for you for 1,000.

From a daily driving point of view, my Fortune Autos are pretty awesome. On the right setting they feel similar to a lowering spring setup.
I'd recommend em.

Never tried Stance though, so I can't compare.

only take advice and oppinion from someone whos driven multiple brands/set-ups.
dont consider the oppinion of somone whos like "omg these are teh awesome" when its the only coilovers theyve ever had.
be smart and dont buy somthing because people think its cool at the moment. buy what works for you.

Yeah you gotta be realistic with these 1k and under coilovers.

Anyone who says "omg my car rides and handles like a BMW now" is delusional.
These coilovers don't come with that kind of high quality valving in the shocks, but it seems that Stance and Fortune Auto tried their best.

This question is like asking the difference between apples and oranges, they're both fruit but each have different qualities. Just pick one.

I'm going with the Fortunes for the custom valving (well sort of) and spring rates. I've never seen any useful information on stance besides the spring rates, no info on valving or anything. With the FA's I know if I order them with a said spring rate, they'll come valved for that spring rate. Plus they're rebuildable in the US for $125 a corner, I'm sold.

Did you contact Fortune Auto directly or one of their dealers? Cause importimageracing.com has them for 999, FA only lists their msrp, which is like ~1500

Another useless post.

If you want to get "Stupid Low" then the dampening quality of the shock will be the least of your worries. Your going to need to do a lot of precision cut/welding of your suspension arms to correct for your extreme lowness. Seems like this guy wouldn't be able to tell the difference between godspeed coils and moton inverts.
If your going to dump your car on the ground, some Megan's will be perfect for you, since your car will handle like crap no matter what shock/spring you have on there unless you correct your roll-center.

If you truly want the best quality, dampening, springs, factory backing...get the FA's
Stances are great too, and before FA was around, they were number 1 for their price point.

I own some Stance GR+ Pros, I love them, but will be upgrading to FA's with swift springs or a Koni/GC custom setup in the future.

Oh, and some background on my experience on the subject:
I have tested over 15 different shock/spring combos on various cars (mainly 240s) including Megan, Godspeed, PBM, HKS, Stance, FA, Koni, Silk Roads, Apexi, Moton, Ohlins...

yeah i dont need to go super low... i dont have the suspension to compensate for it yet and ill just have a dead set up... i just want an great coilover to build off of!...and FA seems to be rite up my ally :mike
