Formula Drift or Formula D has been created to provide the highest level of drifting competition in the U.S. This inaugural season will consist of 4 rounds cumulating the crowning of the first-ever U.S. Champion.

Created by Slipstream Global Marketing, the company that brought D1 Grand Prix USA event. Known for setting the precedent and progressive ideas, Slipstream with the partnership of SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) will create a competition rulebook, first of its kind in the World.

We invite you to come out and take part in watching motorsports history at its first event held at Road Atlanta. There is also a car show portion at this event which include all makes and models of vehicles including Best JDM, Best Honda Civic, Best Car Crew etc... I am not sure if anyone on here is planning to compete...but just be sure to know there are super stringent safety requirements for these events. So make sure you check them out.

You need a full roll cage, full face helmet. 5 point harness, fire-proof suits, and window nets, among other things.

not a full roll cage, only a roll bar, helmet is required, and no window nets are not required. come register for the car show portion if you don't want to compete. :)

wow, you're pretty damn elite man :rolleyes . i'm sure EVERYONE and their brother wants to see you get out there and try to drift too. and i know plenty of drivers that could do plenty with a basically stock car, it's all in the driver's skill.

lastly, your car isn't even ready for this event, and you're knocking someone else because they don't want to throw down a grip of cash on a 4pt rollbar just to be able to go slide their car? i'm in the same boat as him, i'm not going to spend that much money on one friggin event when every other drift day out there doesn't require such safety margins. i could see the requirement of a cage/bar for the tandem drivers, but for solo driving it's overkill for the average joe. there's plenty of runoff room in turn 10 at road atlanta and the speeds attained while drifting this turn aren't any higher than 70-75mph for most guys trying it. so quit being an internet drifter and go work on your car or something:rolleyes

Not sure on that, it took me like 18 hrs or so to get to manhattan in a bus from SC., so i would imagine at NORMAL highway speeds you would be looking at about the same timeframe, even with the 2-3 extra hours to ATL once u get to SC.

Best Honda Civic WTF? OI I know FWD cars are used for drifting, but when I think of a drift event the Honda Civic does not come to mind. Why would you have a seperate class just for the civic? I mean how many people really give a damn about some "pimped out" civic?

due to the popularity of honda civics and the amount of civics that will be competing in the car show, a separate class has been made.

jersey to atlanta would be... lets see... I'd guess going the speed limit, from the jersey state line, around 12 I'd guess. I'd like to go but I doubt I'll drive that far (its about 6 hours for me, looks like). Too much gas, not enough hotel money, etc. I was actually thinking about taking some 101 drift classes at the cloverleaf event that weekend in richmond. How much is it to get into the atlanta event (to spectate?)
