Guys

I searched on eagle rods and all I could really find was J's post on how they were priced well on ebay. I have previously ran eagle rods on my VG setups and such, and never had any issues, however I am going to be setting the bar somewhat higher in terms of HP for my RB build, so I was wondering if they'll actually hold up.

I believe Eagle rates their rods at 1000hp, but i havent seen hardly any proof of guys making this kind of power with those rods. Seems to me like everyone runs carillo or crower...

That being said, I think its realistic that I could make 1000rwhp on my RB motor, would it be advisable to try and do it using eagle rods?

Are you building a drag car or a dyno queen???

Yeah you can make 1000hp if you have enough $$.

I heard somewhere that Carillo makes rods for Greddy. Don't know if its true or not.Maybe you might want to look into that.

if i were shooting for 1kwhp i would seriously go for the carillo rods.eagle rods are 'cheap' compared to some of the other nicer rods out there, and the eagles are only rated at 600hp...

I am curious how you can rate a rod for a HP figure. A 600hp RB has to work considerably less than a 600hp CA to make that power. If a rod is rated for a 600hp CA that would be 150HP per rod so that same rod should be good for 900hp in an RB right?I would expect the rod to be rated for some sort of load figure rather than a HP one. Seems like psudoscience to me.

no way the eagle rods rated for that much. they're cheap and not as strong as compared to pauter, manley or carrilo.

If you are seriously going to join the elite 1K club, eagle rods are not what you want to have. They are a good forged rod for the heavily modified street car, but I don't think I'd buy a budget-priced forged rod for a project like that.

I'm with BoostsFed and Carl H on the Pauter or Carillo rods.

I agree with carl, most ratings for eagle rods are 600hp. They withstand around 500whp in DSM's.

I made 540rwhp on a daily driven pump gas tune in my Z for almost a year, and had 0 issues with it however.....

there is a diffrence in 500whp and 1kwhp.the stress applied to the rods is at minimum doubled and at 500hp rods are already subjected to insane ammounts of stress.also think about it 1kwhp will be atleast 25-30psi even out of a large turbo...more pressure inside = more stress on the rod, piston and bearings.

I am getting a set of Crower rods for my RB26. I am, however, confused by one aspect of them. You can either get them with a bushed or pressed fit end. I am using a set of CP pistons that come with the rings and piston pins. So, do I either get the bushed or pressed fit ends? Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks......

i assume it refers to a floating wrist pin or non floating...std stuff is floating, so they have a bushing in the rod and the wrist pin literaly slips in.

The MadTech S14 (SR20DET) run 885bhp on Eagle rods, just make sure to measure and adjust them if needed before you mount them.I would do the same with all rod brands on a 1000hp engine btw.No problem to run another 400hp´s if you add two rods and got the same strenght.
