I popped my 3rd stock motor about 2 month's ago and finally bit the bullet and went forged 8.6:1 supertech pistons and arp head studs. motor runs great, love the way it feels. I was going to get tuned this Tuesday. Now I have oil gushing out the lower timing cover right by the alternator bracket. at first it was just lightly dripping but now its pretty much a steady flow. Now i have the pleasure of draining the oil and coolant, pulling the valve cover, distributor, upper timing cover, loosening the motor mounts, dropping the sway bar, lifting the motor up, dropping the oil pan, disconnecting all the coolant lines and radiator hoses, removing the crank pulley, then finally removing the lower timing cover. then of course everything in reverse order.

End Rant/

Blows! I got into the same situation when my oil pump failed 3 days after I finally got the car together and tuned... Total PITA

Good luck!

well i figured out why it was leaking. I just finished pulling the cover off and the damn o-ring that goes into the oil hole was crushed in between the cover and the block, must of fell out a little when i was installing the cover. I'll get a new one tomorrow and put it back together saturday night and hopefully i can still make it to the dyno to get tune tuesday. wow this sucks

well got it all back together, coolant bleed, timing set and no oil leaks. Looks like I'm going to make my tuning session Tuesday night. I'll post up some dyno charts when i'm done tuning.
