I have a KA with just over 63K, decently low mileage. I wonder if there would be any advantage to just drop in forged pistons like those from realnissan over going for a full rebuild with over bored pistons. I know the cost would be a lot less but this way when I go turbo I would have my lower compression forged pistons with decent ring lands. Any thoughts. Thanks

Just wait until you have a turbo installed. I mean you will have a loss of power and lower mpg.Doesn’t make sense installing them at this time.

I must agree, drop on the turbo kt when the motor is out for the piston swap. It will make everything easier anyway. If your CR is good, there is no reason to overbore. If anything, just run a ball hone through your cylinders to remove the old ring glaze. A ball hone is only like 40 bucks.

yeah machine shops do that work cheap as hell too, at least around here. My brother got 8 cylinders honed for something like 7 bucks each, I think he said.

cromolley rings are very hard and only cost 70 dollars at Nissan for the 99 Altima. But you need to have the block honed for these rings and they are well worth the 100 bucks you would spend on the rings and the hone job.
