Im getting ready to build the SR, and im thinking about putting in forged internals just for reasurance, but then again people like Secret Services are making 530+ hp on stock bottom end, same with Upgrade performance, 501+ hp on stock bottom end.

This is very reasuring, but nothing is better than knowing you have quality, capable parts in your motor. I was thinking about CP pistons 9:1 pistons and either Crower or Eagle rods.

But forged is $1000+ compared to say $90 bucks for a set of factory rings or whatever they cost.

Im looking to make 450'sh hp, so i dunno wich way to go.

PS: do Se-R N/A pistons rings work in the DET motors?

Well, I built the bottom end just to be safe. Never know, and if you have the time, money, and resources then hey, why not? Im on my second block, and wanted to have all new internals for protection.

Yes you can make loads of power on the stock bottom end, but that is with VERY careful tuning and keeping an eye on everything. Now I know that I will get flack for it, but Im only human, and I can make mistakes. I would like to give myself a slightly larger margin of error.

Again, this is MY opinion, and some will tend to disagree or say that it is overkill. But to me "just right is never enough".

For 450ish, I'd build it.

If you want a potentially long-term reliable motor then build it. But more importantly TUNE IT by the best. And make sure you have plenty of fuel. Secret Services only lost that motor because they ran lean on one cylinder.

I think i will give Weisco and Eagle a try.

Honda peaple rag the hell out of Eagle rods, and I even chose crower over eagle for my Honda motor. But there are so many factors to look at for the mishaps with Eagle. So i will give them a try.

And also. For my Main bearings and Rod Bearings, do i just order bearings for the N/A SR motor? as well as oil pump? are they available here?

Ive built three Honda motors with no problems, Im scared of the Nissan though for some reason, maybe its the timing chain?

I'm building my SR with a Greddy 1.2mm headgasket, Secret Services, 740cc injectors, Z32maf, HKS 264/264 step1 cams, HKS Valvesprings, and GT25/40R turbo... I plan on about 380-400whp. I didnt think I needed to go internals, do I? I actually drive the car too. So it's not just a dyno queen. I race too. :) Anyway, I plan on running low boost like 8psi most of the time, then when I need it more (15 or so on pump gas). Then racegas for the real power. How reliable do ya think it'll be?

I've read somewhere on another site that Eagle Rods are weaker than OEM SR rods.

YES this is also the opinion of Enthalpy. I read it before. I would rather have stock rods than eagles. Atleast on the Nissan. Crower forged rods are the shiznit! but they are also expensive

You will do just fine at that power level. Just make sure Enthalpy tunes it. He is no longer with Secret Services by the way. He has gone independant.

I can't get it tuned on an actual dyno, i'm in Ca. Unless you know of somone who can do it here in Cali? Anyway.. I'm going to get it tuned for the 740s then fine tune it with a AFC

Secret Services is in FL. Who can program the ECU on a dyno out here?

Just because it has to be said...

Jim Wolf is in San Diego, and they can dyno tune your car. ;)

Just have secret services tune it......i did....came out awesome....(ps even tho scott avoy has gone independant he still handles the ROM tuning for SS)

How bad do you think the SS tune for the 740s and z32 will be with my T25. I don't want to tune it for my T25 when i'm not gonna have it too long.

They told me they could set it for the GT25 and it would work fine with my T25, they said it wouldnt be as powerful as it could but it would still work fine.

It should only be once.. I had planned on gettting the Injectors, tuning the ecu for the injectors, then just putting the turbo on when I get it. There will only be 1 tune (till later when I get an AFC).

Get an AEM EMS. Learn to program it. Be a car pimp and the envy of your friends and neighbors.

Im pretty sure they dont make the EMS for Nissans do they?

I didnt think it was listed on their site

They do now.. IT just came out. I don't want to hassle with tuning it myself and such. It's a car I actually drive 10,000 mi a year, not just a race car.

The AEM ems is not out yet. You can not buy one yet. It is still being tested although they have put the ems in their literature.

If i am wrong, please prove it. I hope they are out because that is what I want to run.

Yea im a big fan of the AEM system.

But iw as thinking about going with the Power FC since im Semi-close to Secret Services and they are familiar with it

There are people on FreshAlloy tuning them on Nissans. I do not believe that they have the plug and play version for the SR20 out yet. However, the AEM EMS has all of the inputs required to run an SR20.

With regards to 240SXers street car comment... I drive mine on the street too. I'd love an AEM system. Once you get a base map in there, it runs just like any other stock car. You even get to keep your A/C and the whole nine yards. The only difference is, you can stay ontop of your mods when you get them. So instead of having to save up a bunch of cash to buy a whole slew of mods and THEN have an ECU programmed on top of it, you can fine tune it as you go.
