[THREAD RECAP] How to Install and Activate the Forest Air Aroma System on LHD Cars
Hey everyone,
Here is a quick summary and recap of what our community has discovered across the 6 pages of this thread regarding retrofitting the global Forest Air aroma system into our North American vehicles using Gemini.
--------------------------------------------------
1. The Hardware Breakdown
- The Hidden Harness: Our North American cars shipped from the factory completely pre-wired with an active electrical plug tucked behind the glovebox, but it is currently plugged into a hollow plastic dummy box (27490-1MA0A).
- The LHD Path (27457-1MA1A): As Viper33 confirmed, sourcing this specific Left-Hand Drive motorized assembly allows it to bolt directly into our cars plug-and-play.
- The RHD Path (27457-1ME1A): If you source the more common Right-Hand Drive unit out of Japan, C6Joe1957 discovered that the outer mounting tabs are mirrored. However, you can simply open it up and transplant the internal motorized flappers directly into your factory US dummy box.
- The Scent Cartridge (B7DEF-1ME0A): This is the factory-impregnated ceramic scent stick that slides inside the unit.
The MakerWorld 3D-Print Alternative:
To avoid buying expensive OEM replacement sticks,
hatakoma designed a reusable, 3D-printable cartridge shell. You can download the file from MakerWorld at:

Once printed, you can open it up and load it with standard chalk-based refills like the
Air Spencer Giga sticks.

2. Activation & Coding
Plugging the hardware in will not make it work natively because our factory software tells the car it is operating "WITHOUT" a diffuser. You have two options to activate it:
- The Dealer Route: Viper33 proved that a technician using a factory Nissan Consult 3+ tool can enter the HVAC settings, toggle the configuration from "WITHOUT" to "WITH", and set the scent level to Normal or High.
- The DIY Route: emm3seven discovered that you can completely bypass the dealership using a Foxwell NT710 bidirectional scanner.
How to do it on the Foxwell NT710:
- Navigate to: HVAC -> Special Functions.
- Select Scent Diffuser and change the status from Without to With.
- Select AROMA SETTI to adjust your preferred scent output strength (Normal, Weak, or Strong). (Note: Forum members recommend keeping it on "Normal" so you do not burn through the scent sticks too quickly).
Once enabled, your factory screen will fully integrate the "Aroma" ON/OFF toggle menu, and the system will automatically release fragrance bursts through the passenger dash vents when Breeze Mode is running.
