Forbes magazine just announced their worst cars list. It was based on several criteria, including unsafe, poor styling, poorly marketed, public relation disasters, poorly engineered.

Here's their list:

AMC Pacer 1975-80Citroen SM 70-72Fiat Strada 78-88Ford Bronco II 83-89Ford Edsel 57-59Ford Pinto 71-80Honda Accord 1978 (this one surprised me)Mazda RX-2 1971Oldsmobile Delta 88 79-84Pontiac Fiero 1984Renault Dauphine 56-68Sachseuring Trabant 57-62Yugo 89-91

Fortunately, no Nissans. Anyone have any others? I can think of a couple:

AMC Gremlin (where's the rest of your car, toots?)Renault Le Car (more like le crap)

Renault owns a lot of Nissan, unfortunately. Good thing that doesnt show in the products.

Yeah, Pintos get a bad rap, but if youre into living in your car, you can easily fit a matress into the wagon and still get much better mileage than you would in a van. Plus, theres the added fun and drama of knowing if you get hit in the back your car will combust! Sounds like a winner to me.

Sounds about right to me, but what was wrong with the Accord?

<-- Owned a 76 Vega "wagon", it was passed onto me by my Grandfather, was only running on 3 cylinders at the time :(. He painted it candy apple red and had gotten a great deal on boat-trailer tires. The white walls were a nautical theme ... rope patterned.

My guess is the 78 Accord (they were called Accord CVCC's), was the first bigger car they brought over and it flopped.

Awww, they left out all the rolling heaps from the U.S.S.R.

If its built on 20 year old technology and needs to be repaired on a weekly basis, its sure to be a russian classic.

i'm surprised to see that now cars newer than '91 (Yugo) were on that list.

Remember that when Honda first started it was a lot like what Hyundai is today.

My dad bought a 78 Accord CVCC hatch. That thing was ugly. So, so ugly. I think he paid $700 in the early 90s. He said he wanted to restore it but common sense I guess kicked in and he gave it away or something. It ran and ran and ran and ran and ran... and I hated it.

I get great joy from seeing that 30% of the list is manufactured by Furd.

The blue oval sucks. Always has, always will.
