Forbes just published their annual list of new vehicles discontinued for 2018. Most will not be missed, but a couple will be. Yes there are a couple Nissans on the list.

15. Vw Toureg. since 2004. not a bad SUV. but for $50K, a sunroof should not cost extra. Auf wiedersehen

14. Vw CC. since 2009. Think style over substance, unfortunately, traditional vw buyers tended to desire the opposite. chow.

13. Smart Fourtwo. since 2008, More like mediocre for 2. I actually drove one. front seat was roomier than I thought but oh so cheap. But with all the US govt safety/emissions equipment, a corolla got better gas mileage. Good riddance

12. Nissan Quest. since 1993. I guess the expression is it takes a "villager" to be successful...:)

11. Mitsubishi Lancer since 2002. the Evo was fun, but not the mundane sedan upon which it was based. syonara

10. Mitsubishi Miev: since 2012. I supposed it was not as electrifying as the Leaf. Re-volting is a good description.

9. Mercedes Ben B class electric: since 2014. Sounds like MB "charged" too much..:)

8. Lexus CT 200h since 2011. about as popular as lex-us luther...?

7. Jeep Patriot. since 2007. among the most unreliable vehicles one can buy. Pretty bad. Kinda like how the NE "Patriots" have played the NY Giants in Super Bowls. :)

6. Infiniti QX70. since 2003. I believe it began as the pretty cool FX35, but Nissan did pretty much nothing to it except rename it to erase any good memories generated by the old name.

5. Hyundai Azera since 2006. when I first heard the name when it was introduced, I thought they named it after the voice actor of Apu on the Simpsons. It's not a bad car for a transportation appliance

4. Dodge Viper since 1992. This one I'll miss. Great track car for the experienced driver. Unfortunately, most of them were sold to non-track folk who either take them to car shows sitting beside them in coordinating lawn chairs or do stupid things and crash because they can't drive 'em. Sad. Farewell old friend.

3. Chrysler 200. since 2011. It deserved to be on the list. An fine car to rent, but not to own. buh-bye, don't let the door hit you as you exit.

2. Chevy SS. since 2014. a neat "sleeper", but GM priced it so high, you wake up and conclude it's too expensive. It'll probably end up a mild collectible at some point as GM sold so few of them.

1. Buick Verano since 2012. buick managed to build a car even seniors did not embrace. Oh well.

Thoughts? Comments?

I've seen so few of those cars on the list I could've sworn at least half were already discontinued.

Anything Hyundai (IMHO) should be discontinued. Same for KIA, but that's all my professional opinion as an Automotive Technician that's seen both the good side and bad side of Hyundai/KIA.

NIssan Quest: Can't say I've seen more than a handful within the last year.

You're spot on with the Jeep Patriot. I just hope real patriotism lasts longer than the jeep did.

I called the lancer faulting shortly after they axed the EVO. And here we are, getting teased by subaru on a retro imprezza.

I say, good riddance, you won't be missed. Except you SS, you were cool.

Yup, I'm not surprised by any of it, except that some cars actually were still in production. Too bad about the FX though, those cars were pretty fun (for SUVs). Yes, I refuse to call it by its new name.
Will Smart even sell anything in this country anymore? Or do the Mercedes dealers have to remove that emblem from their buildings now?

SS is gone because GM Australia is gone. Best car on the list, perhaps aside from the Viper.

The Azera might become the ultimate used "nice car" bargain. These days people are snapping up old Lesabres, Park Avenues, Crown Vics, and Regals for their reliability and comfort. In a few years a used Azera might be a strong contender as a comfy, reliable cash car.
