Hey! I went to Napa yesterday simply just to purchase an Wix fuel filter and here is the deal that I ran up on. They were selling Napa Pro Select oil filters for .99 cents! They were also selling the Napa dino(same as Valvoline) for .99 cents!! Best part about it there is no rebate! Sale done right at the counter. There is a limit of 2 oil filters and a limit of 12 for the dino oil. Needless to say, I went to all three of the Napa locations and loaded up on this sale. So far I have 6 Napa Pro Select oil filters and 24qts. of Napa 5w-30. I plan on going in there today and Saturday to load up again. The sale is from June 6-15th. You all should check to see if this sale is in your area. Right now I'm running Valvoline Maxlife so once it's time to change, I'm using this! Check out the pics of sale below...

I might be slow today because it's slow at the job and it's Friday but.... I don't get it .

Anyway, the deal above is great so I had to jump on it and will continue to jump on it until sale ends. When you are able to change your oil for $6, it's always great!

He was insulting the quality of Wix oil filters and Valvoline motor oil.

The quality is fine as long as you adhere to the 90/3,750 change interval like clockwork!

Agree to disagree. Service manuals aren't the Holy Bible. I'm sticking with the fact that dead dino lasts longer than 3750, depending on driving conditions. The quality of even the most inferior oil today is still superior to the quality of the best motor oils when the 3000 mile change was set. Valvoline is probably the best non-synthetic main-stream motor oil today.

I figured that was probably it, I figured that couldn't be it because of the two items at hand. There is NOTHING wrong with the build of Napa/Wix oil filters. I've seen many cut open after 5k oci, and they held up pretty good. Would I do 10k on it...no. Hell, I wouldn't do that many miles on any type of oil and oil filter.

There is nothing wrong with Valvoline dino either. Their Maxlife is some of the best stuff you can get for the price. Many UOA's have proved it. Many UOA's have also proved the "favorite" here on this site isn't as good as everyone thinks it is.

Anywho, it's API certified, made by Valvoline and it's a great deal. Those filters go for almost $4 so for that price, it's a steal. As Maxnix states..."Best oil is fresh oil." Have proper oci's and you are good.

Among the better/best ones, yes. But, based on recommendations from oil experts, I think that CastroL GTX 5W-30 and Chevron Supreme 5W-30 is what I would use if I did dino oil. And, yes, I also agree that, if you do an oil and filter change every 3750 miles or less, then any oil is better than extending the OCI!

By the way, the same may not necessarily be true of filters. Unless you are sure of the quality and proper filtration performance of any filter, I'd consider sticking with OEM, even if it is more expensive. In the, albeit highly unlikely, event of an engine failure, using the OEM filter is one less item to have to prove was not an issue with a warranty claim. Probably not a biggie though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The new OEM Nissan filters look alot like a Fram these days, thread about that a while back. Most of us have Q's well out of warranty. I see your point, but I have never even thought of owning a vehicle under warranty, I'm a cheapskate. In any case, the NAPA filters are better than the new Nissan filters. Upon disection it's obvious.

Exactly. I posted a G35 oil filter and I was very surprised that the so called great OEM filter had cardboard endcaps. After seeing that, I would never purchase a OEM china old filter.

As far as dino, I think the best is actually Pennzoil yellow bottle. It's a Group II+ oil and you can buy it very cheap. That's my 2 cents...
